I sometimes hear it and wonder, because in some ways the song seems out of character for him, and because he is a very intelligent smartass, if he meant it as sort of tongue-in-cheek. Like, the girl he was with was blaming the ills of the world on her father, and he sort of got sick of the power she was giving him and wrote this sort of pissy satirical song. Which may be a stretch, but in the context of the rest of what I've heard from him (which is pretty much everything; I'm a big fan), I do wonder.
