That's one of the things I love about Prince. My problem with Mariah, Christina, and Beyonce ain't the screaming. It's the fact that they are either shit hop.....or most importantly....they don't do funk or anything uptempo and "ass shakable". Those are two of the ultimate sins. . . Yes we have. A tune like Lovergirl I can listen to. Funny thing. Last night on the way home Fire and Desire came on the radio. Normally, after Rick's section, that would be an immediate station change. But I decided to let it go just to see if her section was still just as annoying as i've always found it. Yep, it was. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I'm no goth expert. But I've listen to a lot of members of the gothic culture. And they're all saying Amy Lee was never part of the culture in the first place. Amy herself never claim to be goth neither. The media did! The media has a lot of power and many uninformed people will believe that malarkey. Coincidentally, when I got home from work yesterday, the latest issue of Blender magazine was waiting for me in the mail which included an interview with Amy Lee and sure enough the deck for the interview said: Evanescence's gothy frontwoman on pushing her fans into "a world of fear"

Yes, Teena can get carry away once in a while with the high notes! But I can excuse her for having an "off-night" performance because I know Lady-T has more soul & funk than any of these pop divas that are still making hits in the 21st century. Just for fun, I would love to see Mariah, Christina, OR Anastacia do battle with Teena in a live vocal performance. I feel that Teena can beat all three of them. But at least it would be way more interesting than to see Beyonce get crush by Teena. Beyonce is no match for her at all, IMO.

[Edited 5/23/07 17:10pm] CORRECTION: Christina can do an uptempo dance track, when she's up to it. The songs Dirrty & Fighter are perfect examples.

Just so you know, if I have a comment for a specific someone, i'll address them directly. The "Teena Pass" is just something i've observed here over time. She and solo Diana Ross are simply two artists I just don't feel at all. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I remember when they were all the rage, on t-shirts and stuff, but since I don't watch SNL, I never saw it.
