Cyndi also did the definitive version of Money Changes Everything.

And also her version of When You Were Mine is my favorite (she didn't change the genders, love it).

how is this a cover? i know the song was intended for Roy Orbison but I thought her's was released first cause there was an issue with Orbison's album or label...or something like that.

Yes. Technically hers was released first, while his was recorded first.

Cyndi's best cover is "All Through the Night."

nod Jules Shear did the original. Cyndi's version is much better.

Cyndi is queen of superior cover versions. Even her cover of What's Going On is listenable, which is a feat in itself.

I'm getting all nostalgic for the summer of '89 and the Top 20 video countdown. touched

There are so many classic parts I remember from this video, even though I haven't seen it in probably 17 years.

The wheels projected on her body, that funny finger flaring dance she does at the 1 minute mark, the inverted skunk skank hairdo.

I really love everything about this song and video. sigh

totally! such strong imagery in this video. i hadn't seen it in years
and years and i completely remembered all those things you described.

makes me nostalgic for the 80's n early 90's when people were still
making memorable vids.

Actually, yeah. Roy Orbison wrote the song and played it for her and she did it before he did. She told the whole story when I saw her in concert a few years ago, and then...no shit...she stood about 3 feet from me in the aisle and sang it. It was pretty amazing.
I also remember she mentioned Celine Dion had just covered and the audience booed. She said "I like it!" with a look of disbelief on her face. It was really funny. I love her.
