You know you're getting old when...(do you remember the Cars?) Wow, today I'm in line to check out at the Virgin music store. Behind me is Ric Ocasek, the lead singer of the Cars, one of my favorite bands of the 80's. He is tall and lanky and totally recognizable, so i thought. I grew up with the cars and later tried to get into Ric's solo stuff. I saw them in concert. He is right there.
When I check out, he is now at the register next to me, buying about 6 cds and a couple of dvds. I tell the check out girl who he is and she says, 'who are the Cars?' No one knows, not even the twit checking him out. C'mon. Then I knew all of the 20 year old check out girls would be clueless. I know you don't know everyone, BUT YOU WORK IN A MUSIC STORE. He is like Cyndi Lauper, if you don't know her music you would at least know who she was. I tried to imagine if David Lee Roth was checking out and i said, He is the lead singer of Van Halen, i would get the same reaction. or Larry Blackmon from Cameo. Simon LeBon from Duran Duran Deborah Harry from Blondie Oh well, if Sum 41 came in I would not blink either ---------------------------------
Funny and charming as usual

Ric Ocasek has one of the, if not the most unique face in rock music. So those guys don't know music. Was his wife around, by chance? [Edited 5/21/07 16:12pm]

who are the cars?
I blame the parents...raising musically ignorant children should be a crime. Maybe we should start with the education system as a whole, that's more important than the Cars. No wait, no it isn't...fund education in the arts!

LMAO, you should get with Rep. tom Tancredo, who has introduced legislation in Congress making it mandatory that schools teach kids about Western civilzation.

I can remember in the 1990s when people had heard of Lionel Richie but not The Commodores. Nowadays, a lot of these dumb asses don't even know who Lionel Richie is, let alone The Commodores.....and the ones that do know of him, refer to him as Nicole's father. Andy is a four letter word.
