Whitney snubs MOBO, Prince to replace?

UK THE MIRROR

She is more famous these days for her tantrums, drug problems and her fiery
marriage than she is for her amazing voice.

And from what we hear Whitney Houston has missed out yet again on a chance to
make a successful comeback.

The star was due to be presented with the Mobo Lifetime Achievement award at
the glitzy ceremony at London Arena on October 1.

But after the troubled American singer failed to show up to studio rehearsals
for her performance on the night, event organisers have decided to dump her.

Our source revealed that the Music Of Black Origin organisers are gutted she
has failed to show.

"Talks with Whitney were looking very good, they were very close to announcing
that she would be picking up the award," says our source.

"But when it came to getting her to sort out her set for the performance on
the
night it was a different story.

"Whitney was unreliable to say the least. She failed to show up at the
studios.

"Even her record company and some of her closest aides couldn't get her to
show
up.

"Everyone was thoroughly annoyed with her. Performing at the Mobo's would have
done wonders for her career at the moment. Mobo really wanted to give her the
award and thought she would jump at the chance to receive it. But they were
wrong."

Now it is believed two other stars are in the running for the prestigious
gong.
It is thought either Prince or Stevie Wonder will pick up the award and
perform.

But as far as 39-year-old Whitney is concerned, this is yet more bad news to
add to an ever-growing list.

Her weight, voice and lifestyle have all come under scrutiny in the past
months. And only last week we heard how she was being sued for $100million by
her father, who claims she has not paid his company for services, even though
he helped her avoid drug charges and sign a $100million record deal.

John Houston, 81, is also said to be upset by the behaviour of his daughter
and
her husband Bobby Brown.

Whitney's $100million deal with Arista Records has also become an on-going
struggle over what songs she should sing. She recently failed to show up to
record a video, costing the label thousands of dollars.

Her new album is overdue and the single Watchulookinat doesn't seem to have
gone down well with American fans.

Lifetime achivement? hehehe

Stevie or Prince should have been honoured before Whitney anyway. Though she's "arguably most popular black performer of all time" according to a recent documentary on her.

Yeah,I've been hearing about her problems with the new CD.She's been bitching about the songs, the producers and failed to show up at the video shoot for the first single (which has subsequently bombed on the charts).Arista has already chosen a new single (a remake of "You Light Up My Life") but the CD is STILL not completely finished!

If Whitney doesn't get her act together, her career could soon be over. She has a great voice, but it's being constantly overshadowed by her weird,drug-influenced behavior these days.If her new CD bombs,it could seriously jeopardize her $100 Million recording contract (just ask Mariah Carey). She needs to drop her loser husband, get her ass into rehab, and rejuvenate her career.

She always had that crossover appeal, meticulously engineered by Clive Davis but have there actually been any good songs along the way?

The only one that I remotely liked was "Your Love Is My Love" dilluted Bob Marley vibe produced by Wyclef from her last album.

Well, you're right about her career...but i think the media has blown a lot of this way out of proportion(that's their new job right?).
We have to remember all the drug references are about marijuana, not coke, heroin, etc. Big difference in my book. Whitney getting caught with pot in an airport is hardly a real issue-except that she's an idiot for doing so.
Obviously being with Bobby Brown is not a problem for her--you don't dump your husband because he's bad for your career.

Whitney still has her great voice. It's just a matter of getting her together and getting some good material for her.

I'm not surprised that "Whatchulookinat" or however it's spelled bombed on the charts. It's a dumb, "poor little me" that's no different than R. Kelly's "Heaven I Need a Hug" song.

Please, these people are multimillionaires who are releasing songs whining about the problems that come with being a star, media attention and fans. That is not what customers want to hear when they're paying their hard-earned cash for a CD.

Oh,I do love Whitney and I wasn't trying to be too negative. It's just that,I'm sick of hearing all this drama about her behavior.Nowadays, her crazy antics gets more attention than her music.I want her to get herself together, make a kickass CD and get out there and do some damage again!!

Everytime you hear about Whitney these days,it's usually about how she is acting crazy, cancelling appearances, not showing up for her own concerts, sweating wildly on the talk shows, and taking forever to finish her CD.As Natalie Cole said a few years back, these are all classic symptons of someone who is hooked on drugs (and we all know Natalie is an expert on this...lol).I love Whitney and I *WANNA* support her and her new music, but come on!!

maybe. but people have been saying this for about 5 years now. i think it's become part of her appeal.

as for her album, is she just biting the bullet and recording it with Thunderpuss, Hex Hector and all the other hot remixers from the beginning or are they going to have to go in and save the whole thing again this time too?

the former, i hope. but the latter is just as fun too biggrin

Hell, if she doesn't get it together her LIFE might be over. I'm not a Whitney fan, but I don't want her to go the way of so many others...
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

IMO, these MOBO people are releasing all this negative publicity just to get attention for their pathetic award show.

What does Whitney not showing up for an award show rehersal have to do with her comeback? Sure her behavior has been erratic but so has Mariah's and Michael's and Prince's. Yet, their fans remain true to them because of their talent, not because of the awards they have gotten.

Even if they do decide to give the award to Prince, who's to say that he will show up? And why would he if he was given the award as an afterthought. And once again the MOBO people will run to the press to whine about being snubbed by Prince.

.

and as we can learn from Mariah, Michael, and Prince, erratic behavior that only leaves your hardcore fans to support you is no place to be.
