It was very disco-ish today
That was a long intro for Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. Notice Billy dropped his mic before the performance?? [Edited 5/19/07 12:21pm]

Lakeside were GREAT
Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. were... overall,a cool episode but I still think there are better episodes from this period. This was 1978...where is Rose Royce,Ray Parker Jr.and Raydio,Natalie Cole,The Brothers Johnson,Teddy Pendergrass,Chic,A Taste Of Honey, etc? These are the acts who were ON FIRE during that time!!

This was one of the better episodes simply because the music was better & the dancing was off the chain. did anyone notice Jeffrey Daniels in the Soul Train line? Why are the men so much dancers on this show than the women?????

Second episode in a row I missed; i'll have to try to catch this one in the early a.m. on monday. I really wanna see them Lakeside performances. I think I already knew what to expect with Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. "Say I'm lookin' at you, from the corner of my eye..."

I haven't been really watching them the past few weeks. Just listening and notating who did what when while doing something else. I did look up for a moment when that Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. intro seemed to go on forever. Wasn't sure if they were going to perform or what. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Overall it was a good episode IMO, just for the fact that Lakeside performed and they played a Philly (my hometown born and raised) classic this week by Jerry Butler made it good enough for me.
BTW I noticed the girl with the almost off skirt, that shit was funny. It also seemed like Cheryl(the asain dancer) and her dance partner were a little buzzed during some of the songs.

I still thought the dancefloor looked a little thin. lakeside was great. marylin and billy (who went oops when he dropped his mic on the floor by accident )
talked about their songs were like two minutes back in the day and the intro to the song they sang was like two minutes with 30 seconds of singing and another two minutes of music. It was a cool single but that was the longest that I have ever seen soul train let a song go on like that performance wise or just a dance song. I love lakeside doing fantastic voyage live. Shalamar had a different lead singer for take that to the bank. other than that, the show was okay. oops someone already mentioned the mic part. that was the second blooper since they showed a guy on a past show who looked like his pants were ripped when he went down the soul train line. It was great to see Lakeside on TV again. Their performance was great.
I had never heard that disco song by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. but I liked it. I even liked the long intro....that was the disco era for you.....songs were extended with plenty of music for ass shakin'. I also had never heard "Contact" by Edwin Starr and I absolutely loved that one. I'm gonna have to find that jam. . . [Edited 5/22/07 6:30am] Andy is a four letter word.

They were hot during that period though.....prancing around and slinging that Prince hair. Andy is a four letter word.

you had never heard "Contact" by Edwin Starr?? That was a huge disco jam back then! If you like that song, you'd probably like his other big disco hit from that era "H.A.P.P.Y Radio" Both of these songs are fast!

Why are the men so much dancers on this show than the women????? Some of those ladies were getting off coming down the line. I know what you mean though about the women dancers compared to the men. I love the way the ladies on that show danced in the 1970s and around 1980 and 1981. However, around 1982, Don started putting those stiff bitches on the show that couldn't dance and all they wanted to do was pose coming down the line. Andy is a four letter word.

However, I had never heard it back when it was popular. Apparently, the stations down here must have not played Edwin Starr during that era. I never heard it until I bought a disco compilation years later. Andy is a four letter word.

On all the tribute episodes I have ever seen, they play nothing but songs by that particular artist. Hell, the only thing I remember from Minnie is "Loving You" and "Memory Lane". You can't do a whole show on just those two. I'm thinking there's going to be a lot of slow stuff for the dancers throughout the whole show. This sounds very disappointing. LMAO at the ballet dancing comment, you do see alot of ballet steps on some of these old episodes.

Gino will sing "I Just Wanna Stop" I predict his second song will be an uptempo one....maybe "The River Must Flow"?
