CNN was talking about this as well, and I am not baiting. As you remember, everybody was shocked when Melinda lost. When a whole host of normal looking people become rock stars then I will be happy. It should only be about talent and that is that.

Well heres my take on this show. Ive watched it 3 times, and all 3 times it was for the Music guests (prince,Jlo,Bon Jovi) , my issue with this show is all you really are picking is the best Karaoke singer. Is it based on looks, to a certain degree, i see a double standard though from people who watch this show, people are pissed Melinda is off because they say she was the best. And yet last season Katharine Mcphee was lights years ahead of Taylor in talent and yet when i asked people they said they didnt vote for her because she seemed "stuck up", so that is a double standard, its a talent show, not a personality show, shit 90% of the people in music from Prince to Madonna to Elton are stuck up and scumbags in person. The only way i would give this show props would be if everyone had to put their own shit together, write a song, play an instrument, etc..It seems like they put people on "the white rapper" show through more than this show does. As far as it being racist, i think if it was broekn down into just who watches this show % wise, im sure its not, its all a look thing at this point, and i dont doubt the producers of this show have something to do with it. How else can you explain millions voting for taylor hicks and him only selling 600,000 albums, where'd all the millions of voters go?

thats why yall shoulda just put that Sanjaya kid in there anyway; the fix was in on the first note of the first show

It doesn't matter. We all know she's going to get a deal, no question about it. For most of the seasons, the losers have been more successful than the winners.

At least you get black people winning things on American reality shows. In Britain that rarely happens. Take Lemar from Frame Academy who was easily the best out of the lot, as soon as the public had a chance to vote him off they did. Today he is the only person from that sorry programme that I still remember, I can't even remember the winner's name.

Shilpa Shetty from Celebrity Big Brother only won out of sympathy because of the racist row that blew up with Jade and Co.

American Idol is about marketability . . . obviously that includes singing, but not JUST singing. Kelly Clarkson had the perfect balance of talent and looks.

Not hatin', but not-so-attractive singers don't sell as many CDs these days. Sad, but true, even if they ARE super-talented!

Why not break it down to the real problem: American Idol voters have bad taste.

Seriously though, the person I'd call the best singer has never won.
