Rush, The "Keyboard" years...(1981-1988) What is your favorite Rush album from what I call the "keyboard" years:
"Moving Pictures" (1981) "Exit...Stage Left"(1981) "Signals" (1982) "Grace Under Pressure"(1984) "Power Windows"(1985) "Hold Your Fire"(1988) "A Show Of Hands"(1989) I personally LOVE the "Grace Under Pressure" album the most of the lot. While most people consider "Moving Pictures" Rush's creative peak, I always thought that GRACE UNDER PRESSURE showcased Rush at its peak during the "keyboard" years. Whats your favorite Rush album of the "keyboard" years

I guess you can put Moving Pictures and the live album in the list, but I would start with Signals. After Moving Pictures, I would pick Grace Under Pressure. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

they shouldve changed again after SIGNALS.
1973-1982 were prime. | |

I love all the studio albums during this period, but "Moving Pictures" is definitely my favorite. "Signals" is a close second, followed by "Grace Under Pressure". "Power Windows" and "Hold Your Fire" I don't play as much, but they both have good songs.
"Moving Pictures" is just a pure classic. Their best overall in my opinion.

Though I did play Exit..Stage Left (on vinyl!) to death earlier, Hold Your Fire gets the nod...I'm a sucker for "Time Stand Still." "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

Rush newbie here. Where is a good place to get started w/ them? I dig most of the singles that i've heard, and I ve actually picked up Chronicles at least twice, but never managed to buy it. Whats a good starting point? A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

I personally think "Moving Pictures" is a great place to start. I believe that's their biggest-selling album, and it was the album that got me hooked into Rush.
