Love that song! I have the remastered CD which contains a few bonus tracks.The liner notes are very interesting!

OMG, I love this song so much. An ultimate jam.

As for Somewhere In My Lifetime, I don't think I can listen to it without tearing up.

I love that song. I have her last cd and it's great just like the rest.

As far as "You Know How To Love Me". Phyllis said that the whole record was a nightmare becoz James Mtume(the producer) was so unsatisfied with her per4mances that he made her do the takes over and over.

Untill she cussed him out and he had to follow her on the streets and drag her back to finish the recording. The finished product is what you guys are hearing now - an angry Phyllis.

Listen to the end of the song and you'll hear her sing "I wasn't born yesterday" that was directed @ Mtume for telling her how to sing.

Really, I cannot stress this enough esp since 1/2 of the divas discussed in this book don't have bio-books about their lives(Millie Jackson, Esther Phillips, Phyllis, Roberta Flack,,,etc etc).

Millie & Esther's chapters are RIOTS

Phyllis was a true beauty and talent. I remember when she posed nude (but tastefully) for OUI magazine back in the early 80's. Wish I still had those pictures.
