There are some amazing episodes from the 70s!! I don't know why Don Cornelius is holding back.There's one episode from the early 70s featuring Sly and The Family Stone and they take over the whole show!! At one point,Sly even walks into the audience and dances with the dancers.

There's an early 70s episode with Stevie Wonder debuting his new single "Superstition" for the first time.At one point,he sits at his piano,surrounded by Don and the dancers.He comes up with a new song right there,on the spot....sorta like a tribute song about "Soul Train".

There's the David Bowie performance from 1976.And the Elton John performance from 1974.He performs "Bennie and The Jets".

Don't encourage them to go anywhere near the 1990s. Thank God that decade is over. I watched the Prince episode (only to see Prince). The rest of the show was horrible....but, of course, music as a whole was horrible back then.

I'm with Dancerella when it comes to the early 1970s. However, I love the late 1970s and I'm definately with you on the 1980s.....NOTHING past 1984.

And better yet, it was mostly dominated by funk. When funk dies, artists might as well call it quits because "If they don't make funk, they can keep their dull ass junk".

What I really like about this song is...it sounds like they came up with the groove and the hook and told Carrie to just ad lib through it....say whatever I like the little lines that she throws into the song.

I really want to see that episode from 1980 with Seventh Wonder because I remember a bad ass jam by them from that year but I never knew the name of it and haven't heard the song since 1980. They played it a lot on our local "Soul Train" type show called "Black Gold" and every now and then on the radio. It was never a hit but, that was the good thing about back then....shows didn't play just established hits only, they tried to make future hits. Whether they were successful or not, didn't matter. In the meantime, the public was getting great funk.
