please keep un informed of when the reissues are available....
great article... I love this line from Betty. "I was around drugs a lot," Davis told me. "They just never interested me. You've got to respect people's values. People never forced me to take drugs, and I never told people to get off them."

I also saw these this weekend... musthear.com: http://www.musthear.com/r...davis.html allaboutjazz.com: http://www.allaboutjazz.c...php?id=765 (expanded version of the musthear article w/tracklist and players) NPR Shadow Classics: http://www.npr.org/templa...&f=5566517 ROCKANTHOLOGY: http://rockanthology69.bl...lbums.html My favorite quote so far is Santana's... She was the first Madonna, but Madonna is more like Marie Osmond compared to Betty Davis. Betty Davis was a real ferocious Black Panther woman. she sounded bitter and more than a little dismissive. she has probably dealt with so much disappointment after living on such a high in her "glory days", that all of this recent attention is something she can't let herself enjoy for fear of being let down again. that's my guess anyway. i know she's not doing well financially, and she's had a life of knowing she could have/should have been a lot more than what actually happened. it'd be great if the music caught on and she became hot this year. question: if a betty davis song is licenced, like to a commercial or a movie, does she get royalties from that?

But the article also said that they had money for her that she didn't get because they couldn't find her. What's up with that? They either didn't make much effort or she really hid. She doesn't seem to be working, so don't you think she would see after such things?

I passed by Virgin to pick up the Horrors CD during lunch and looked for the Betty Davis reissues, but they weren't in stock yet. Even on Amazon there is at least a week delay. What's up with that?
