Siedah Garrett - "Kiss of life" Underrated singer and a strong album...
Anyone else familiar with Garrett?

I remember the first single "K-I-S-S-I-N-G".It wasn't very good
but she did a few other songs that I liked... "Everchanging Times" (later covered by Aretha Franklin with Michael McDonald) "Do You Want It Right Now" (cool dance hit from 1985) I saw her in 2004 on Madonna's Re-Invention Tour. She was a backup singer.

I didn`t know she recorded "Everchanging times", i have to check it out, and also "Do you want it right now". Thanks
She also recorded another album later, called "Siedah", where she sang "Man in the mirror". I`ve heard some samples, and the whole album has a bad sound to it...

"Everchanging Times" is a beautiful song.I like both versions.I'm surprised it never became a big hit!

SunnySkies, this album grew on me and I liked it but don't know what happened to it as it's no longer in my collection. I think about trying to repurchasing it from time to time. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I hate it when that happens. I lost my copy of Aretha`s "Amazing grace", so i replaced it with the "Complete recordings" edition. Bad idea!!

"very BAD" I haven`t listened to "What you see is what you sweat" in a long time, i have to listen to it again. To be honest, i can`t remember how "Everchanging times" goes, i mostly remember her cheesy (but enjoyable) duet with Luther Vandross.

Sometimes there's no substitute but the real thing. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I don´t know any of her albums, but I love Sometimes - a song she did with Brand New Heavies. [Edited 5/15/07 6:06am] "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

My favorite Siedah Garrett vocals are the songs she did for "The Color Purple." "Dirty Dozens" "Sister" and "God is Trying to Tell You Something."

I USED TO LOVE THIS ALBUM! I REMEMBER BUYING IT WHEN I WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGHSCHOOL ON CASSETTE. "K-I-S-S-I-N-G" WAS A JAM. LOVE IT. I MAY SEARCH FOR THE CD ON EBAY. I NEVER CARED FOR HER DUET WITH MICHAEL THOUGH.
I REMEMBER HER SONG "SENSITIVE SIDE" TOO. LOVE IT.
