Karen Carpenter-Rainy days and Mondays

The Carpenters do evoke a sad mood, i think mainly coz of Karen's death. Even one's like "Close To You" and "Yesterday once more" have a sad tinge

I believe that Karen's Carpenter's death has something to do with it too. But the reason why Rainy Days and Mondays is very poignant to me, is because a friend of mine died at the age of just 37 from kidney failure. His funeral took place on a Monday and it was raining at the time. Although at the time I had the Carpenters greatest hits, I never really played that song until the evening after the funeral, it was the first time I really cried properly since he died.

That "shut up" needs some kind of Little Richard accent.
