His debut really wasn't up to much. Generally bland ballads and boring mid-tempo R&B - nothing spectacular.

However, On The Jungle Floor is a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

I dont get u guys.....but whatever...listen to some bill withers...shuggie otis...staples singers...curtis mayfield...when he gets 1 ounce of what any of those people have then van hunt will be something special..now he´s simply an OK musician getting a lot of light because we live in a world with ZERO talent promoted by labels...even lenny kravitz is light years beyond him..(from the let love rule days)..van hunt has ZERO stage pressence..and zero originality...WHATEVA

Im not a Lenny fan...BUT..
what he did in 1989 regardless of how derivitive it was of 60's/70's music..was More original and Fresh in 1989 than van hunts stuff is today...
He also is a better all around musician...and his stage presentation is 100000% greater than van hunts...EVEN back when he was a newbie on the music scene...I said EVEN Lenny Kravitz because I dont think he's that great..he's cool and has great style/carisma..but he aint a HEAVY music cat !...the jist of my comment was..EVEN he is far more unique /special/interesting than VAN HUNT !
