Marva Whitney Interview Nice interview from James Brown alumna...
...Marva Whitney - http://www.wefunkradio.com/extra/marva/ Cool Quote: (One of my favorite anecdotes about Brown is his audition of a guitar player: "Can you play a G7 chord?" "Sure can." "Can you do it for twenty minutes?"). Marva's What Do I Have to Do to Prove My Love to You is one of the funkiest tunes recorded by a female or male. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

There's an occasional poster here, MrSoulpower, that does shows with her (along with other classic R&B acts) in the U.K. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. i'm sure i've asked this before, but are there other CD (re)issues beyond "it's my thing"? i think i read she has a NEW album coming out soon, but is there more from her back catalog that we should be anticipating?

http://www.soulpower.info/soulpower/... tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 well, i KINDA found my answers from there, as it led me to www.marvawhitney.com, where her discography page taught me that there are TWO marva albums yet to be reissued: * Live and lowdown at the Apollo * I Sing Soul so what are they waiting for? i read in the waxpoetics interview that marva has a NEW album coming out, though i don't see a peep about it on the soulpower site. then again, i can be selectively blind sometimes.

In terms of new recordings shown on the site I was referring to... ...I Am What I Am (2007) And... ...Live in Japan (recorded during a few 2006 shows in Japan) Both co-produced by the Org's own MrSoulpower. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
