Rick James Slow Jam Doubleplay: Spacey Love/Hollywood

My two alltime favorite slow jams from Rick James are "Spacey Love" and "Hollywood" and they sound great back to back.

They have that sexy "spacey" midnight feel to them. The kind of slow jams you can bring a stranger home at two in the morning and....(as the blue haired old lady on "Women of Brewster Place" used to say).....do all those "filthy unnatural thangs" to them. The kind of slow jams that makes you wanna.....well, you get the picture. lol

Give it up for these two slow jams!

Love both of those songs, wit Hollywood being my favorite of the two. Spacey Love was meant to be a tribute to Patti Labelle right?

I think he did have Patti LaBelle in mind when he wrote "Spacey Love". "Hollywood" is my favorite of the two also and, after his death, it definately seems like a song that could be played as an opening song in a movie about his life.

Yep, "Hollywood" was on Rick's first album, "Come Get It".

Yeah those are good songs but I have 2 better ones. First, "When Love Is Gone" from the album Fire It Up. You listen to this song and its so deep. Rick even admitted that he couldn't listen or perform that song anymore because it was so emotional. He wrote that song to his ex-wife when they were going through a divorce at the time. And the second one is a classic, "Ebony Eyes". Dedicated to all the beautiful black women all over the world. This was Rick's answer to those who said he likes just white women. So, "When Love Is Gone" and "Ebony Eyes" are the true blue classics from Rick James. R.I.P.
Peace and be wild!
