steely dan atlanta, ga may 11, 2007 just got back from seeing steely dan in atlanta tonight.
The show was at chastain park. it is an outdoor ampitheater, really quite a nice venue, but it has a terrible reputation because the summer concert series is sold in bulk, and most tix are bought up by companies or people that have no interest in the artists playing. folks bring wine cheese and dinner, and are more interested in having a nice little outdoor dinner party with some background music. this evenings show was no exception to that unfortunate trend, but not nearly as bad as most shows there. the band: Donald Fagen - Keyboards and Vocals Walter Becker - Guitar Keith Carlock - Drums Jon Herington - Guitar Carolyn Leonhart-Escoffery - Backing Vocals Michael Leonhart - Trumpet Cindy Mizelle - Backing Vocals Jim Pugh - Trombone Roger Rosenberg - Baritone Sax Freddie Washington - Bass Walt Weiskopf - Sax Jeff Young - Keyboards and Backing Vocal the show was really good, very funky, very jazzy, with a very tight 10 piece band. unfortunately we got some rain for about 45 minutes, but not a really hard rain, and not enough to spoil the show i saw them back in 1994, and thought last nights show was better. i had hoped for some morph the cat material, but they did not play any. with their back catalogue, they have ahave a lot to chose from. i don't have a formal set list but they did: bad sneakers josie dirty work peg kid charlemagne do it again hey nineteen my old school bodhisattva and a lot more. i highly recomend checking them out if they come your way ------------------------------------------------

I saw them last year and they were outstanding. Michael McDonald opened for them, and he joined them for "Peg." Worth every penny. They also played Aja, and some other Fagen songs. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder | |
