Hip-Hop tracks must be uptempo and danceable (MC Hammer/Oaktown357/2 Live Crew-type party vibe). ....and an artist can only have one slow jam on each career album.

Jimmy & Terry may have helped extend Cheryl Lynn's career a little longer with that cut. If i'm correct, Cheryl had'nt had a hit since "Got To Be Real" up until that point. I like her voice. She has that Chaka Khan vibe going on.

No,she had a big hit in the summer of 1981 with "Shake It Up Tonight" A year later, her duet with Luther Vandross,"If This World Were Mine",also became a sizable hit.

Talk about taking me back to the 80s. This song was at the clubs and at house parties, a huge roar would go up anytime it was put on.
Talking about the 80s, there was one song that I use to hear alot at parties, I never got the name of the artists or the title, but it was around 83/84 and it went something like this; "Hi, Hiya doing....smile, I hope she smiles.." and I can't remember the rest, anyway I loved that song it reminds me so much of the 80s.
