Imagination was probably one of the biggest of that era.
Beggar and Company/Light of the World
Hi Tension
Level 42 (yes, I'm gonna count the New Wave acts too wink)
Linx
Junior
Sade
Heatwave
A Certain Ratio
Lisa Stansfield
Scritti Politti
Central Line
Soul II Soul
Style Council
The Real Thing
Musical Youth (yeah, I know they were Reggae/Pop, but they had some R&B jams too)
NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
