Nelly Wants to Jam Himself, Mariah & Janet on a Song! Jermaine Dupri is in the studio trying to make even more hits - with everybody. He's producing an all-ballad album for Jagged Edge, then you have Usher, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and one of his best friends, Nelly.
"Nelly's got a crazy collaboration he's trying to put together, which is him, Janet and Mariah Carey all on one song," JD said. "That's what he wants. If he could convince them to do it, it would be crazy. He wants Janet to rap a 16-bar verse, he wants Mariah to sing the hook and he's gonna do two verses. He has it all planned out. You ask him about it! This is what he wants; he's 100-percent deadlocked into it. And I think he's doing a record with Bruce Springsteen. You know he always has to do one of those! My two records [that J.D. has produced for Nelly so far], he's gonna have some people on them - I won't tell it yet. I don't want to jinx the record. Source: MTV

noooo janet needs to stay the fuck away from nelly! call on me is a horrible song with no melody or soul! Someone else could have sang it other than janet and I would have still called it crap
mariah and nelly might work, they did better than I expected on the mimi album [Edited 5/7/07 11:07am]

well, obviously JD is pushing for it too to revive his woman's career. He's been yapping forever about wanting to put MC & Janet on a record.

JD needs to let that corny Janet-Mariah dream go once and for all. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Yeah im sure thats Nelly's thinking too But really why do something like this? Mariah doesnt need this, the track with Nelly on her last CD was pretty bad, she needs to re-think her work with rappers, work with some old-school ones instead of Nelly and Snoop, bring in LL or someone like that. Nelly is lame, Snoop is boring as hell, and JD's production is over. Nelly.... he's old news, isn't he? Or has he just not put anything out since he was uber-successful a few years ago...? "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

how about if she just brooms the rappers into the dustbin and just sings all of the songs by herself again for a change? i'm sick of Mariah Carey songs being all about her cooing over a sampled 70's/80's groove while she waits around for the rapper to show up at the appointed 30 seconds during the bridge so she can sit on his lap in the video. Now wait, most of the singles off TEOM were rapper free.

people started grouping Mariah with excess usage of rappers with the Glitter album, which was the only project to be packed with guest rappers, but it really just caught on with people that she can't do without them in an exaggerated way.

That sounds so horrible! "Call On Me" was passable at best and barely became a hit. Nobody on the planet wants this except for maybe Nelly, whose days are probably numbered!
If Janet hopefully has learned something from the last two albums, it's that she is pop, not faux hip-hop! The attempts at a more "urban" sound are unnatural and don't fit her. It needs to happen natually like on "The Velvet Rope", which is probably her funkiest and most soul filled! [Edited 5/8/07 12:12pm]

there are rappers all over her singles from 1997 on. Honey Breakdown The Roof Sweetheart Heartbreaker Crybaby Loverboy Don't Stop Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Irresistible The One Boy plus a few yelling shit out on some of the Mimi singles and Snoop on Say Something not to mention all of the remixes featuring rappers that were promoted as singles parallel to the regular versions [Edited 5/8/07 12:45pm] "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

The Roof, Breakdown & Last Night were killed by her lables.

I would really like to see Janet work with pop producers like Nile Rodgers, Trevor Horn and even though he's worked with her before on Island Life Scott Storch and Cathy Dennis. oh yeah Jimmy and Terry, you have to put them on.
she should leave the rappers for mariah.
