Howard Hewett - Greatest R&B singer ever?!

Within the past year i've really gotten into Shalamar staring with the Heartbreak cd and now i'm listening to The Look. I never noticed what a great singer HH is. Damn, he's got an incredible voice. Anyone agree? Plus he's kinda easy on the eyes too. IMO he is the true star and talent of that group. He never gets props though. By teh way, I found out he hasa new cd coming out next week! May have to cop that! cool

Howard Hewett being the greatest R&B singer ever? That may be your opinion, but I doubt Hewett himself would put his name in such company.
[Edited 5/7/07 20:29pm]
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

Howard is good but he is not the best R&B singer ever? That goes to the late great Luther Vandross. He is true R&B royalty. I will miss him. All hail Luther worship the Prince of Soul.

I wouldn't say Howard is the the Greatest RnB singer ever (that would be Donny Hathaway, imo) but I would place him in the top 10. Howard has always been underrated vocally but he has a solid place in history.

**Glenn Jones is another that I would place along side Howard in terms of being underrated RnB vocalists.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

There's nothing wrong w/ his voice, I said I like his voice. But there's no way he could be considered the "greatest", not even by his mother neutral

The best R&B singer ever??
Barry White
Luther Vandross
Sam Cooke
Eddie Levert
Michael Henderson
Jeffrey Obsourne (LTD)

Hewett doesn't come close to any of these.

he sounds like the male R & B version of Janet Jackson boxed. soft, whispery, no humph" to back up great lyrics.

Now that's harsh lol his voice is way more skilled than Janet, she hardly has a voice lol Listen to "Show Me", he shows some degree of power on that song...

I will have to check this song out.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVED HH in Shalamar... but they were not strong singers. you know what I mean? They were the whole package deal... cute, sing and dance well... but not experts or the ultimate in any one of those areas. The same for Ms. Jackson.... you can sit and listen to her, watch her dance... but she is not the greatest dancer, nor the greatest singer and that's okay.
(Reminds me of another singer/entertainer... Beyonce boxed)

Funny you should mention Howard Hewitt, because I JUST listened to his song "I Commit to Love" earlier today.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
