Howard Hewett - Greatest R&B singer ever?! Within the past year i've really gotten into Shalamar staring with the Heartbreak cd and now i'm listening to The Look. I never noticed what a great singer HH is. Damn, he's got an incredible voice. Anyone agree? Plus he's kinda easy on the eyes too. IMO he is the true star and talent of that group. He never gets props though. By teh way, I found out he hasa new cd coming out next week! May have to cop that!

Howard Hewett being the greatest R&B singer ever? That may be your opinion, but I doubt Hewett himself would put his name in such company. [Edited 5/7/07 20:29pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

Howard is good but he is not the best R&B singer ever? That goes to the late great Luther Vandross. He is true R&B royalty. I will miss him. All hail Luther the Prince of Soul. Peace and be wild!

I wouldn't say Howard is the the Greatest RnB singer ever (that would be Donny Hathaway, imo) but I would place him in the top 10. Howard has always been underrated vocally but he has a solid place in history.
**Glenn Jones is another that I would place along side Howard in terms of being underrated RnB vocalists. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVED HH in Shalamar... but they were not strong singers. you know what I mean? They were the whole package deal... cute, sing and dance well... but not experts or the ultimate in any one of those areas. The same for Ms. Jackson.... you can sit and listen to her, watch her dance... but she is not the greatest dancer, nor the greatest singer and that's okay.
