Marva Whitney Interview

Nice interview from James Brown alumna...

...Marva Whitney - http://www.wefunkradio.com/extra/marva/

Cool Quote:
(One of my favorite anecdotes about Brown is his audition of a guitar player: "Can you play a G7 chord?" "Sure can." "Can you do it for twenty minutes?").

Marva's What Do I Have to Do to Prove My Love to You is one of the funkiest tunes recorded by a female or male.

There's an occasional poster here, MrSoulpower, that does shows with her (along with other classic R&B acts) in the U.K.

i'm sure i've asked this before, but are there other CD (re)issues beyond "it's my thing"? i think i read she has a NEW album coming out soon, but is there more from her back catalog that we should be anticipating?

well, i KINDA found my answers from there, as it led me to www.marvawhitney.com, where her discography page taught me that there are TWO marva albums yet to be reissued:

* Live and lowdown at the Apollo

* I Sing Soul

so what are they waiting for? cool

i read in the waxpoetics interview that marva has a NEW album coming out, though i don't see a peep about it on the soulpower site. then again, i can be selectively blind sometimes. redface

In terms of new recordings shown on the site I was referring to...

...I Am What I Am (2007)

And...

...Live in Japan (recorded during a few 2006 shows in Japan)

Both co-produced by the Org's own MrSoulpower.
