Wow....sounds awesome....anything Coltrane, and I'm there.....well, maybe not this time - we do have a bit of a logistics problem!
I hope you are going and will tell me all about it! "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

I hope you are going and will tell me all about it! It's something Leonard Herring put together. Do you know him? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all." | |

He's asked me to work on some things with him in the future. Seems like a nice enough person and definitely has industry cred being a John Levy understudy. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Great, go for it.....and when you are done with his project, let's get busy on our record label
He has established a nice business for himself, and kept things true to the genre....that brings kudos, IMHO.....Clarion started out with a sound business plan, then proceeded to implement it (like we were doing with TD).....I read about them (he and his partner, whose name escapes me) in a jazz mag not too long ago..... Sounds like a lot of fun...keep me posted! "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

Great show.
Azar Lawrence... ...was in JC-channeling mode a number of times. He was ably assisted by... ...Nate Morgan (Horace Tapscott, Ronnie Laws, Gary Bartz, Chaka Khan/Rufus) ...Trevor Ware (Horace Tapscott, Dale Fielder, John Beasley, Ronald Muldrow) ...Vocalist Mark Broyard joined them to recreate the classic John Coltrane / Johnny Hartman ballad My One And Only Love. ...Leon "Ndugu" Chancler Eddie Harris Joe Henderson Herbie Hancock Santana George Duke Ramsey Lewis Weather Report Labelle The Bar-Kays The O'Jays Patrice Rushen Stanley Clarke Donna Summer The Temptations Lionel Richie Frank Sinatra Tina Turner Kenny Rogers John Lee Hooker Bobby Womack Wayne Shorter Get the picture? Oh yeah, almost forgot. He also played drums on an album named Thriller by some guy named Michael Jackson The hightlights of the show for me were the beautiful ballad (My One And Only Love), Mr. P.C. and My Favorite Things. Many thanks to Mr. Leonard Herring... ...for trying to keep this music alive. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Oh yeah. It's a 4 cut live Azar Lawrence performance (John Coltrane Tribute). They recorded it at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati Sungarden Room last year with the Edwin Bayard Quartet. I Want To Talk About You Mr. P.C. Impressions My Favorite Things I'm surprised it's not up on his site yet. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
