Do you ever listen to something you normally wouldn't acknowledge? Have you ever just randomly picked something that you typically would avoid like the plague and listened to it, just to make sure you still don't like it?
If so, have you ever been surprised at how much you DO like it? If not, and you were given a voucher for one free CD, but it couldn't be ANYTHING you'd normally choose for yourself (we'd check your music collection, seriously), what would you choose? Well? ANSWER ME!

i was once given a cd by "The Beautiful South". it belonged to a friend
of mine who only had a tape deck and couldn't get the album on tape and so bought the cd for me to copy and i could then keep te cd i hated that album with such a passion. i kept thinking "shit why does it have to be one of the worst albums ever?" lol. so if i were given a voucher and had to pick an album that would likely make me sick on listening, it would probably be like a hits collection from The Beautiful South and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

i'd probably go with hillary duff or avril lavigne or something from that vein. i mean, it's so reviled in my existence, i'd probably be fascinated to actually listen to an album like that all the way through. from a field study perspective, i might actually gain some insights on the human condition.

lol. i bet the avril lavigne album wouldn't give you too many insights it would only remind you of the most awfull people in high school that would think they were the absolute shit and say the kind of lame shit that would make you cringe with shame for them and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

i usually like to give most things a second chance. sometimes a 3rd. case and point, NIRVANA. not a fan whatsoever. but i recently bought a cd for someone's birthday, and that was one of the ones they really wanted. needless to say we had to listen t it. i was surprised that i actually was familiar with more songs on it than i though. i ended up thinking, 'i guess it's not that bad', to 'ok, i want a copy of this'. and i've even put it on to everyone's surprise.
free voucher? i'd probably use it on something like a best of by....hmmm well i don't know. but there are "artist" i definitely would not buckle to. voucher or no voucher. no gimme my free voucher LOVE ♪♫♪♫ ♣¤═══¤۩۞۩ஜ۩ஜ۩۞۩¤═══¤♣

Is that how you explain your 5 star Fergie review?

I'm secretly hoping that someday this happens with Moonbeam and Revolver or Rubber Soul.
If he listened to those records on his own terms and still hated 'em, then I think any hope for a Beatles conversion is officially dead.

Not really. I would acknowledge anything I listen to and enjoy.

but that's my point. is there anything that you see on TV or in a record store and just immediately think "naaah, that would suck" or "not my style". have you ever been tempted just to LISTEN to one of those albums someday, just to see what you're not listening to?

I do that sometimes, yes. Usually it's with current pop stuff, just to see what folks are listening to. Sometimes I actually dig it - like with the John Legend CD.

Sure, I'll occasionally watch whoever's hot like Justin or 50 cent just to see what the hype is all about. Generally they're just as bad (or mediocre, at least) as I thought.
Sometimes I come around, like with Bruce, Guns 'n' Roses, Eminem (to some extent), Dylan, Metallica, AC/DC, & some others My Legacy

there's some good stuff in the carpenters catalog. there's a whole lot more going on with karen's vocals than bubblegum and kittens.
