Jimi Hendrix - An Illustrated Experience

This coffee table book...

...is scheduled for release in September of this year.

There are a series of 1970 photos titled Jimi Hendrix in NYC (a few of which may appear in the book)
taken by photographer Samir Safwat which can be viewed here: http://www.fredmiranda.co...p?cat=3627

This shot was taken at a benefit for Timothy Leary at tthe Village Gate .(BTW i was never a acid head ,I never had a good time with the stuff.) Tim's wife was trying to raise money for his release and i was asked to come and join the party.I had met Jimi on a few occassions at Max's Kansas City a local hang out for artists photographers and interetsing people in general.I even ran into Judy Garland there one night after hours. I was a fan a of Jimi for a while in his early career and had met him in early 1967 at a record store when he could walk around on the street unrecognized and he invited my friends and I to hear him at a small club called the Salvation ( Sheridan Square NYC ) with the experience trio.He was a very gentle man and his handshake was direct firm but compassionate and not selfassertive which impressed me deeply.Jimi was comparable to Charlie Parker i his innovative talents to contemporary American music.
Yes i was really there.I heard the Band of Gypsies etc at the Filmore East but i think his trio was his besy effort except for the last track on the Woodstock soundtrackj where he emulates the late great Wes Montgomery playing style in his own way.I am glad there still is Santana and Clapton around.

peace

confuse For some reason I felt guilty about posting them here. Maybe it's because i'd never seen them before.

It's called charisma and star-quality...somethiing a really good photographer can sense, then catch quite easily and record on film....

i'd rather laugh at the crazy masses than try 2 teach them sense or taste.

There were long stretches of time when he would b drugged upto the eyeballs and had'nt washed 4 weeks. he'd smell so bad, even chain smokers could smell him from a distance.
Awful diet.
bad skin.
only a "legend" could get awaywith this and still be thought of ás sexy.
He had 1 of the worst haircuts in showbizz lol
