Out Of Print Recordings That Ought To Be Reissued On CD Of course we have the CD technology to thank for our favorite albums being bought back into circulation. However, there are still some great gems on vinyl that are still waiting to be reissued on CD. What are some albums that you would like to see reissued on CD that are not on CD at the present time???
Here are some of mine... ***Vesta Williams-Vesta(1986)- The debut album from this great r*B female vocalist was great. This woman could really sing. The material on this record is great. A lot uptempo dance stuff on here like "Don't You Blow A Good Thing" and "Once Bitten Twice Shy". But the slow jams on this record were OFF THE CHAINS!!! Oh my goodness " You Make Me Want To Love Again" has got to be one of the best slow jams of all time. She had another tight laid back slow jam off her second album Vesta 4 U in 1988 called "Sweet Sweet Love". She also had a huge hit off of that album called "Congratulations" then POOF!!!... you didn't hear anything else from this sista. But Vesta was a stellar R&B recording. ***Slave- Show Time (1981)- How this album is out of print is beyond me. This record had jams like "Snap Shot"(the long version...with the talented Steve Arrington taking those snap shots of that lovely fine model}, Wait For Me, and Steal Your Hearts. These three cuts boasts some serious funk riff and grooves supplied by one of my favorite 5 r&b bassists of all time... the great but UNDERRATED Mark Adams But that's not it..you also get tight album tracks like "Spice Of Life". It's high time for the Rhino Records reissue team to get started on the reissue of this stellar 80's funk album. ***Freddie Hubbard-Life Flight(1987)- A classic jazz recording...HANDS DOWN from one of the most underrated jazzmen of all time and my favorite trumpet player(YES I prefer his playing even over Miles Davis). This 87'recording has Hubbard reuniting with some of his old CTI record buddies like George Benson and Stanley Turrentine. They both play their behinds off but this is clearly Hubbard's show as he dazzles listeners with his technical wizardry on trumpet. In addition to being one of the best on his instrument, Hubbard is also an amazing composer. He contributes two stunners on this album "Melting Pot" and "Life Flight". This record really needs to be on CD. A CLASSIC recording from one of the greatest living jazz legends(even though he making a comeback of sorts..he lost his chops in the 90's). ***Aretha Franklin-One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism (1987)- The Queen getting back to her gospel roots on this anointed 2-record set featuring guest appearances from Rev. Jesse Jackson and Mavis Staples. This record is powerful and inspiring from beginning to end as Aretha sends a reminder out as to how she came to be one of the most influential and important female vocalists of all time.

"Buckingham-Nicks" by Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks (pre-Fleetwood Mac) is classic that needs to be remastered and released on CD.
Let's hope it arrives next year when Fleetwood Mac hits the road. - Chuck

Bro915...I have those first two albums! The Vesta debut album is great, and that Slave album kicks ass too. Here are a few albums that I would love to see on CD...
***Ronnie Dyson 'Love In All Flavors'(1977)---Ronnie is probably the most underrated soul vocalist of all-time! This album is simply incredible, containing the funky "Don't Be Afraid" (which became a minor hit) and a lovely remake of Hall and Oate's "Sara Smile".It's worth hunting down. ***Rick James---Amazingly,most of his classic Motown albums have YET to be reisssued on CD!! The only Rick CDs you can find is his debut 'Come Get It','Street Songs' and 'Cold Blooded',plus a few select compilations. But you will not find his 'Bustin Out Of L Seven','Garden Of Love','Fire It Up','Throwin Down','The Flag' and 'Wonderful' albums on CD because they are all out of print.Wtf?? ***The Commodores---Likewise,most of their 70s albums are out of print.I am waiting for them to reissue the 'Movin On','Hot On The Tracks' and a few of their other essential albums from this period.Motown has been incredibly slow in updating their catalog,at least in recent years.

The Family. I have it on wax, but not CD and can't find it anywhere. Years ago in the early 90s I saw The Family's CD in Tower Records. It was being sold as an import,so it was around $25.I wish I had bought it because now it's extremely rare. But I do have the vinyl album.
