I saw Martha Davis and her "new" Motels band perform Saturday night and all I can say is awesome.... She is such a talented singer/songwriter. Her new Motels band is (dare I say) better than the original. All of the guys were in their 20's. Martha Davis may be in her 50's but she's still got it. She performed 3-4 new songs that stood out and were ever bit as good and deliciously moody as her best known songs from the 80's. Her new CD BEAUTIFUL LIFE should be out later this year. If they play in a town near you, do not be nervous or hesitant because you might think (like I did) "oh Martha Davis and her new Motels. Probably just trying to re-hash some $ by doing an 80's nostalgia concert tour". WRONG. After hearing them perform Saturday night and listening to the current arrangements of their music, they sound fresh, and very relavent. Awesome, to say the least. One of the best concerts I've ever been to as far as musicianship and effectiveness of the music and band. I can't say enough good things. I can't wait for the new CD.
