That's another good thing about the 1980s that makes it better than the 1990s and 2000s.....the look and image. Men didn't look like thug ass criminals back then. In the 1980s, if you weren't gay, you sure as hell better look gay if you wanted to be a success. Women were a lot sluttier looking back then but not in the "cheap" way they look now.

When I think of the 1980s, I think of a particular line to the tune of the "All In The Family" theme song.....

And you knew what you waaaaanted.....
Men were women and women were whores.....
Seems that we could use a man like Prince Rogers Nelson again....

I love music that challenges me.

That's why I think Prince's "Uptown" is SO DOPE.

That's my ANTHEM.

Unfortunately we live in a different time now. I just don't see any envelope-pushing artists blowing up like they did back in the day. Now it's all about a marketable product. There's no room for soul, identity, or individuality on the mainstream stage. No one has an opinion about anything. No one wants to piss anyone off and risk losing some big endorsement deal or missing out on a pathetic role in a C film.

In the words of my girl Esthero, we ARE in need of a revolution. I left out "music," because it's not just the music that needs the revolution, it's the whole society. We're living in pretty lame times right now and mainstream music is simply a reflection of that. sad

I like it when hetero/breeders/men-who-exclusively-like-women/whatever-you-wanna-call-it can push the envelope and not be scared to get called weird or god forbid, queer! shake

Prince. Is. Amazing. Wow.

I like when people are secure with themselves enough to be free.

Hetero women do it (and can get away with it more in Western society, unfortunately).

I say Hetero because I think the term "Straight" is GROSS.
