WILL PADDY MCALOON (prefab sprout) EVER GET THE PRAISE HIS WORK DESERVES ??? one of the great songwriters of the late 20th century with songs that will stand the test of time .i wonder if he will ever be given the attention his fantastic songs deserve... one of the few artists that i NEVER get tired of listening to , i hope that paddy gets some recognition before he dies for his wonderful songs that mean a lot to the people who have followed his career and i would love to see him and his band live some day.....
he has just released his greatest album 'steve mcqueen ' ( two wheels good in the us ) in a 2 cd remastered form which i highly recommend .....i gather he doesnt keep too good nowadays so all the best paddy... .

I'm a big fan of Steve McQueen, Jordan and about 1/2 of Langley Park. I can't say that I never get tired of listening to his music because the relentless wimpiness of it can grate on me after awhile, but he is a great talent. He could have been a Bacharach for the nineties if the nineties had actually wanted such a thing. | |

tA Ndeed, he's definitely one of my all time favorites! This was one of the last threads, with Thomas Dolby's take on the album: http://www.prince.org/msg/8/219179 BTW, I love the new remaster, especially Paddy's new acoustic versions! I first heard Prefab Sprout back in '85, and bought that album the same day that Stevie Wonder's "In Square Circle" came out...I remember being kinda disappointed after listening to Stevie's album (especially after waiting for so long for it to finally come out)...but then, when I threw on Prefab Sprout's "Two Wheels Good", I immediately perked back up! It seemed to have all the depth, feeling and humor that Stevie's albums used to have...I became a die-hard fan that day. Ironically, Stevie would later show up playing harmonica on the track, "Nightingales", from their second album, "From Langley Park to Memphis"... ...
