Help me identify new Prince-sounding single

I'm desperate to identify a really cool, retro-sounding, Prince-protege sounding, single that I heard today on a pop radio station today. The only details that I have is that it is a big voiced, female artist, most likely a black singer. The music is real Prince-sounding circa 1984. It is a new track, that has a strong Prince-style 80's synth and rhythm thing going. I am dying to identify the artist and song title.. Any clues or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's my luck to hear a song I really like and want NOT on XM radio. If it was on XM, I could instantly see the artist and song title of course.

Could it be Joss Stone's new one? "Tell Me 'Bout It"

Go here, and you'll get to hear it from the girl herself...
[PRINCE 4EVER!]

No, it isn't Joss Stone "Tell Me 'Bout It". Thanks for your help though.

the song is REAL PRINCE Protege like. It sounds like something Prince would have written for one of his ladies.

Is it Diddy featuring Keyshia Cole - "Last Night"? - it does have that mid 80's Prince rhythm, synths, ect.

I totally forgot about Shanice's Every Woman Dreams. I wonder if that's the song. Seems to have all the elements although the tempo wasn't specified. I'll bet that's the song tho.

I'm gonna agree with most everyone else and say it's probably the Diddy song

I heard it's remix in the car this morning and that crap sounds like a direct sample of 'When Doves Cry'! confused
If you will, so will I

I don't think it has a Prince sound but its does have an 80's vibe and I really like that song....it seems it should be Keyshia featuring diddy...but whatever....

"Danger" by Hilary Duff, its on the new album, its got that Keyboard/linn drum sound thing going on, and it easily could have fit a protege.

As others have stated, he's probably talking about Diddy's song Last Night.

Since when did Hilary Duff get a big voice? hmm

I think I would have went with Diddy if the poster mentioned a male vocal but overall I don't think that Last Night sounds that Princish. I wonder if we'll ever know but it's fun guessing.
