I have a crate of vinyl at my parents' place that I'm itching to listen to again. Just have to come up with the $200 for a turntable (I want one of those with the USB port so I can create MP3s). You know I wouldn't mind getting one of those. I like to make cds for my friends, but I have to do it old school and make mixed tapes for them. I just want a simple way to make the cds from the vinyl with out turned my room into a a studio. [Edited 5/6/07 20:02pm]

If the equipment doesn't disturb the neighbors, it ain't worth having. You sure as hell can't have a party with an ipod. What are you going to do, have all your guests gather around the headphones?
You are behind the times, dear friend. There are accessories to where you can take your ipod anywhere and hook it up to any sort of sound/video system (wired or wirelessly) and shake the walls to rubble.

the iPod is just too much of a hastle for me I hate having to install software that I'm only gonna use ever so often I'm more prone to the Windows Media Player anyway Then you'd absolutely HATE the Zune - you can't use WMP with it, you have to install custom software for it, etc, etc...

That all sounds great except for the reality that: a)Those devices bombed and Dell ceased making them. The Dell DJ uses a dead-end DRM system that is no longer supported by the latest WMA store/technology from Microsoft. b)That "whole variety" of retailers probably hold about 9% of the market and the more limited selection of music they offer comes wrapped with a DRM including much more severe restrictions than iTunes in most cases. The two most popular online stores, the two people actually use , are compatible with iPods. c) The iPod is compatible with a lot more file formats and will happily convert unprotected wma for you. People are perfectly free to choose whatever player they wish, and there are a few enticing alternatives on occasion, BUT most of the complaints I hear against the iPod go doubly worse for the ones they end up choosing...
