I dont think thats the point, seriously most people dont download albums they go and get a song for 99 cents because they figure the artist sucks. Actually i think probably 75-80% of people do that, take a look at Timbalands new single, in threee weeks its got something like 600,000 sales for a download, but his album has just sold 200,000.

and really, how is that different than going to the record store back in the day and buying a 2-track single?

Its quite different, singles translated into sales. Back in the 80's u could have an album release 5-6 singles and still sell 5 million. Today you couldnt sell that many if the artist died upon its release or got arrested or won american idol

I had an mp3 player that ran off flash memory in about 2001, but I never got much use out of it.

My sister upgraded to some other iPod and gave me her first generation iPod shuffle which is perfect for exercising.

I must admit.. the last time I took a plane ride, I felt pretty silly lugging along 30 CDs and a discman.

got an ipod as a gift and have put 6,000 songs on it so far.....pretty much everything i own

shuffle is a new experience that i have never had musically.....imagine if you will that you are the dj of your local radio station and you are just playing random songs from your collection.....it is the best radio station you have ever heard

you hear tracks from albums you have not listened to in a while, plus new ones, plus Prince.....the ipod is amazing really

i used to carry around my cd collection (about 50 lbs)in heavy carrying cases but i have thrown them away.....now all i have is my small ipod and a small external hard drive (4 lbs) and that is all i need.....and i can still buy the cd if i really need to and just upload it directly to my ipod thru my computer

plus i have tons of photos on there and recently watched a movie with it on an airplane.....i love it.....and i especially love it because i fell in love with lps at an early age and then hated the CD when it came out.....now i don't anymore cds - just about 500 lps and my Ipod

I don't own an ipod either. I refused to let my wife by me one. They are vastly overrated. You generally have to charge them up all the time for 13-16 hrs of music before the embedded battery dies. If you use it a lot it may last 2 years before the battery burns out and you have to buy another one. I have the panasonic sv-mp020 model that you can order direct from the panasonic web site which is 2 gigs. They also have 2 gig models. They run on 1 AA battery and it last 80 hrs which is an average of 31/2 weeks for me. I use rechargebles so i don't have to buy batteries over and over.
I have bought 1 cd this entire year because i have just about every song i want on my mp3 player and the bullshit that comes out today i am just not interested in 75 percent of the current music that comes out. I have 294 songs on my player an it holds up to 500 songs. So there is an advantage to owning a mp3 player or ipod if you so choose. You don't have to go out and buy 100 greatest hit cd's from your favorite artists. I can't speak for others, but i paid a one time fee for my music download versus paying monthly but i will admit my service does not offer every song off certain albums that other services do but it is good enough for me. I will always get that favorite cd from time to time that i like but there is definitely an advantage to owning an mp3 player that can save you $$$$$! on music.

Yeah, I think at this point I probably am. It seems like everywhere I turn everyone and their mother has one of those damn things. It's like, yeah, they're accessible and convenient. But they're expensive for me right now, and whenever I do have enough money to afford one, I usually end up buying something more important.

Besides, I'm happy with my cassette walkman. I'm old school like that. music

I have an iPod and I use it for traveling.....it was one of the best gifts I have ever received.

I do not use it on a daily basis, however.

I have found it quite worthwhile and definitely a plus for very long flights.

My iPod was a gift from almost four years ago and I absolutely love it. I need music with me at all times and love too many different genres to lug along CDs or tapes. When I grab my iPod I know that I can flip through songs or entire collections by my favorite artists with just a touch. Plus I love creating playlists for certain moods and it’s all right there in my pocket.

I also really enjoy listening to various podcasts.

The best thing about my iPod right now is its the place to hold all my Amerie mixtapes that she has been circulating the past year. On a side note, her cd hits the UK and Japan May11th , the USA however, not happening.

She has a second one that is really underground, not so much for the content but its really hard to get a hold off, plus there are so many variations going around, who knows what is what. I saw the tracklist for the Import which im def getting and alot of tracks are new, not even on the mixtapes. Two other ladies to check out as far as mixtapes in RB are Candice Pillay, and also MISS ISSA both are great, im waiting for Teedra and Mya to just start circulating since their labels suck too.

um.... if you're buying a track from iTunes for $.99, then that counts as sales.

I don't have one either for the same reason I never wanted a Walkman back in the day. I want my music to not only shake ass, but the fucking walls also. If the equipment doesn't disturb the neighbors, it ain't worth having. You sure as hell can't have a party with an ipod. What are you going to do, have all your guests gather around the headphones? lol

Yeah, i recently saw Elton John on a talk show and someone was shocked that he didnt own an iPod or a Cell Phone.

I have never had a cell phone, never wanted a cell phone, and wouldn't take one if you gave it to me.

My favorite invention is the answering machine. If I get sick of someone, I just let the machine answer the phone until they get tired of calling. However, if I happen to see them somewhere in person and they confront me about it, I can always lie and say that I've been extremely busy and haven't been home much. With a cell phone, you can't lie because you have no excuse for not answering it if you can carry it with you.

Besides, I think a lot of people own cell phones for the sole purpose of looking like they are big shit. I don't give a damn about looking like big shit. If someone doesn't like me for who I am, fuck 'em.
