Jeez... I never knew that Jermaine Stewart had died. 10 years ago too, I never heard about it. I just looked him up on Wikipedia, such a young age.

I played in the orchestra behind Joe Williams when he was here in Detroit years ago. I was also part of the Detroit "Love Unlimited Orchestra" for Barry White on one of his last tours.

Roger Troutman. Man he always seemed to be having fun when he was on stage. (I saw him in concert about 3 times)You could tell that it was'nt just a job to him. Those of you that did get to see him, Know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, I forgot--I saw Troutman, too. And the Commodores with Milan--YEARS ago when they were the opening act for the Jackson Five. I was a lil' tike of 10 years old!

Uncle Ray at a Capitol Jazz Fest. I couldn't believe he was onstage right in front of me. He was soulful, flirty and dirty, and the crowd couldn't get enough. "Georgia on My Mind" brought me to tears. The man was killer.

James Brown
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Reading Anx's great thread about artists your parents went to see, I noticed a lot of them are sadly no longer with us. Just wondering which artists/band members you saw in concert before they passed. I'll start you off with:

Vaughan Toulouse (ex singer with Department S)
Graham Chapman (former Monty Python guy compered a gig I attended)
Boni Boyer (Prince keyboard player)
Miles Davis
Rob Collins (keyboards - The Charlatans [UK])
Chris Acland from Lush
Kenny Pickett(Singer The Creation)
Timmy Taylor (Brainiac)
David McComb (singer The Triffids)
Curtis Mayfield
Stuart Adamson (The Skids/Big Country)
Maurice Gibb (Bee Gees)
Gregory Hines (the actor compered a concert I attended)
Jim Capaldi (Traffic)
Markus Sandlund (member of Brian Wilson's band, died in the asian tsunami)
James Brown

I saw Lush live a few times. I even got Chris to sign some of my Lush 7" singles at an in-store appearance. sad

I saw Mark Sandman with Morphine live when they opened for Cranes back in the 90s.

And Boni Boyer during Prince's Lovesexy tour.

That is all.
