It's a fantastically composed, riff-filled masterpiece.

I burned it for someone a few months back, saying 'this is the greatest of all songs'
she didn't get it | |

i was just going to make a thread about this song. i've been listening to the B52's quite a bit this week, "Rock Lobster" and "Strobe Light" always get an extra spin or two. "Channel Z" is another. LOVE ♪♫♪♫ ♣¤═══¤۩۞۩ஜ۩ஜ۩۞۩¤═══¤♣

One of my ALL-TIME favourite bands. And this is a classic! Summer is coming so that means I'll crank up The B-52s' albums soon... can't wait. . [Edited 4/28/07 5:48am]

Love them! Saw them at Jones Beach in the Summer of 1990.
New album coming this Fall! New album: The B-52's have gone back to their Athens, GA roots to record the second half of their long-awaited new album. They are currently in the studio crafting some heavy grooves with producer Steve Osborne (KT Tunstall, New Order, Manic Street Preachers) and programmers Damian Taylor (Bjork) and Pete Davis (New Order). We project a release of Fall 2007! Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned.

And I have never forgiven myself for not entering a MTV competition, back in 1990, to see them live. Okay, there was no guarantee I'd win whatsoever but I am still angry with myself. I cannot wait until they release their new album.

I've seen them twice in the 90's, once Cindy was sick, so she wasnt very bouncy, the other time Keith's father had died that day, so he basically just played in the back corner. They still put on pretty good shows, but both times something seemed to be missing, but what do you do? [Edited 4/28/07 8:19am] I am still jealous. I can't believe Keith still went ahead and played the gig! I wonder how many other artists would do that... Maybe it was very therapeutic for him... Sorry to hear they weren't as good as they could have been but I am *praying* that they tour this next album. Hopefully we'll both get to see them putting on a kickass show! . Calm down! I can't help it - they are my first musical love, of sorts. And, anyway - don't *you* pretend that you're not excited. I know you're creating dance routines already.

One of the best compliments this tune ever had was by John Lennon, who said this was what he was trying to sound like during his Two Virgins/Wedding Album phase. He said this in an interview in 1980.

They should be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. They were doing their thing bout the same time as R.E.M was on the scene. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.
