I MUST give a shout-out to the official Crystal Ball: Excellent concept...poor execution. ...and it all sounded soooo good before I received my set. The original idea sounded really promising, didn´t it ? Something nice to put on your coffee table, looking a bit like a crystall ball...bla bla bla..that project was a true fiasco. Musicology.
The Al Green Anthology 4 CD box set comes second, as the quality of materials used is very poor.

That was one of the first that I thought of, it's very awkward. [Edited 4/21/07 17:19pm] "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

silverchild said: The original version of The Herbie Hancock Box consisted of the most horrible packaging treatment any boxset has ever recieved. I actually owned a copy of this set and the first day I took it out of the cellophane wrapper, I opened the door and the discs fell from the filmsy side holders. You couldn't even hold the discs by its edges and somehow the discs and box would become scratched and filled with fingerprints. Closing the box was also difficult and I eventually put the scratched discs in a case and replaced the box set with the improved 2004 version. Classic, innovative music, but the worst packaging ideas from a major label: Sony! Yep! It's pretty but so impractical! I'm thinking about getting the reissue with out the box.

Is it all of the Columbia albums remastered, or just a few outstanding tracks compiled? I can't tell because websites always list boxset tracklists like its one 81 song disc.

Crystal Ball is just AWFUL! That massive plastic disc is a piece of shit.
I also hate box sets, like The Police box, that allow the CDs to fall out when you open them. The new Robert Plant box set is bad for that. The CDs are constantly flying out.

INXS-"Welcome To Wherever You Are".
You will need fingernails and a map to get into this one. Once It's opened, the inner "sleeves" are gorgeous. But the booklet always falls out. Pet Shop Boys- "NightLife" What were they thinking with this plastic sleeve? my phone is heavy

Actually I like all of his songs AFTER this era (this era which I admit established him as one of the best piano players in the game)

The DVD came with 50 what looks like bad photocopied pictures taken from the videos. They aren't even in a mini book or binder. It was just loose pictures falling all over the place.
the DVD is great and I love it, but the packaging was either bootlegged or something cause its the tackiest thing I've ever seen. It's a picture book of stills from the videos with the credits in the 2 middle pages. Yeah, I love the DVD but the book isn't all that great. I haven't noticed any pages come out but if you bend it enough, they probably will.
