I can see all of that too, but it doesn't really bother me since the pacing is the same as Homogenic and that's one of my faves. Shall we rate the songs or do a song-by-song review? hell, i'm waiting for the survivor thread.

I don't think it's a particularly bad track, just not really for me. The music is fine, tho'. My Juvenile does nothing for me, sadly, although I can understand why you like it. Yeah, the lyric is repetitive, but I like how the volume and the voices build. It's one of her grandest songs. Plus, it wasn't her lyric. It's based on someone else's poem like like "Sun In My Mouth" and "Mother Heroic". Yeah, as I understand it's a poem adapted for song. Perhaps she felt she ought not to add too much to it. It builds beautifully, certainly. It might grow on me yet.

I couldn't even get my ass to finish the Ziggy one after you left for Iceland! But that's not a bad idea. Maybe I'll wait until Mooners gets it and try to get MikeMatronik to come back.

For some reason, I have a feeling there are a lot of leftovers from this album. With the huge number of collaborators, I'd guess that we're just getting a small portion of what she came up with each. But then again, these could be the only ones that were finished if what she said about the extra Timbaland songs is any indication. But I wouldn't be surprised if there were a shitload of b-sides, even though we haven't heard about any yet. So don't be surprised if more paratrooper songs appear in the near future.

I still can't believe the beating that Aerial took from some people. What more could you really ask for from her?

What's your order? Hounds Of Love The Dreaming Aerial (may overtake TD in time, perhaps still too soon to say) The Sensual World The Kick Inside (this and the above switch on occasion) Never For Ever The Red Shoes Lionheart So really only the first and the last three are secure. I'm crap. Anyhoo.... THIS IS A BJORK THREAD!!!

just yet. all i know is that i like most of it except for vertebrae/pneumonia and even my juvenile. but that means nothing since i didn't like "unravel" for the first six months or something can you imagine that? i'm still ashamed of that lol. so no doubt these tracks i don't like right now will become sort of favorits in the future once i tire of the rest of the album. still, i am hoping there will be at least one bouncy poppy thomping b-side non album track that i will be able to use as lubricant for the album's dull patch inbetween vertebrae and pneumonia. At first I thought the patch from 5-7 was kinda slow and sleepy too. But "I See Who You Are" has so many interesting ideas and it's just so lovely that it keeps my attention the whole time. "Vertabrae..." actually gets going midway through and is pretty freaky. Not a sleeper at all. But "Pneumonia" definitely makes it feel like you've waded through molasses by the time it's done. I love it and it might be the most emotional song on the album. It just slows the album WAY down midway. The Mark Bell mix of I See Who You Are is even lovelier...

Bjork's playing Austin City Limits:
Dylan, Decemberists, Spoon, LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, PB&J, QOTSA, MMJ, YLT too!
Though we slaved for literally minutes over last week's crossword-encrypted announcement of this year's Austin City Limits Festival bill of fare, frankly, if it's not a word search, we're not gonna crack it. So we were awfully pleased to find we'd been let off the hook today. The fest, taking place in Austin, Texas' Zilker Park September 14-16, has officially announced their 2007 lineup, and it packs an even greater wallop than the headache we accrued attempting to solve 9-across. What's a twelve-letter word for "prog-folk book readers"? ACL Fest's talent pool has a spacious deep end, with Björk, Arcade Fire, the White Stripes, Wilco, Bob Dylan and his Band, the Decemberists, Queens of the Stone Age, Yo La Tengo, Spoon, Bloc Party, the National, LCD Soundsystem, Peter Bjorn and John, My Morning Jacket, Arctic Monkeys, Blonde Redhead, Kaiser Chiefs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, M.I.A., Andrew Bird, Muse, Midlake, DeVotchKa, Regina Spektor, the Broken West, Stephen Marley, Patterson Hood, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Crowded House, the Little Ones, and Willy Mason. A full lineup is available now through the festival website.

I kinda miss the real instrumentation. I hear you, but the syncopation of the 'fake instruments' makes up for it with me. In a way, I guess I'm used to their collaborations and it's hard for me to 'evolve' with her in her new collaborations. I need to listen to the record a few more times!
