Right Said Fred Singer Running for Mayor? Right Said Fred Singer Running for Mayor?
Man Behind 'I'm Too Sexy' Wants London's Top Job LONDON (April 18) - Is Richard Fairbrass, the bald lead singer behind Right Said Fred, too sexy to be London's next mayor? The former bodybuilder doesn't think so. Fairbrass told The Sun newspaper that he is tired of the rising costs in the English capital and believes he could make a real difference at city hall. "I want to stand as an independent candidate with a manifesto for the real working people of London," he said. "They make it the brilliant city it is. It's not just about the super-rich." The singer, who is currently recording a comeback album, says the controversial congestion charge, in which drivers must pay to enter the city's center, is unfair. "The congestion charge needs a total overhaul -- real Londoners should get a massive discount. Women driving their Chelsea tractors in from Surrey should have to pay a premium." In Right Said Fred's biggest hit, 'I'm Too Sexy,' Fairbrass repeatedly sings "I'm too sexy for my car." Fairbrass may have been inspired by other celebrities who have run for higher office, including California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and country crooner Kinky Friedman, who came in fourth place in his bid last year to become governor of Texas. 'I'm Too Sexy,' a snarky tune sung from the point of view of a fashion model, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991. LOVE ♪♫♪♫ ♣¤═══¤۩۞۩ஜ۩ஜ۩۞۩¤═══¤♣ | |
