Oh Gnarles Barkley, where art thou? Ha! Do you remember one of last year's biggest hits, 'Crazy' by Gnarles Barkley? This little song terrorized the airwaves all summer long and everybody praised this band as if they were the second coming of The Beatles and had great expectations.....hell, even Prince decided to put it on his setlist as a cover in Vegas (first in his aftershows, then in the regular set....with Shelby singing)!
I heard this friggin' song again on the radio whilst driving my car today, and realized how right I was last year: it was their only hit!!! I never understood their success or appeal... They tried another song of their overrated debut but it failed to catch on.....since then, we haven't heard from poot Cee Lo and his little band! Do you agree? I, for one, hope I'm right! We'll never hear from them again! (just here to pick my grain!)

the project seemed to be a one-off, but that doesn't take away from its brilliance.

I still play St. Elsewhere
and watch the DVD too... love that video for "Smiley Faces" on the breakdown when it's Danger & Cee in cartoon and they're walkin robotic across the striped sidewalk did they get that from The Beatles? oh please explain.....one-off hitwonder! Well it's not like Cee-Lo or Danger Mouse didn't have any other work previous to show for before Gnarls.. it's quite clear where the talent came in. I enjoyed that project while it was hot and will forever remember that song/album as one of the decade's most endeared. I don't even expect them to follow it up as a duo.

uh, this album is STILL in heavy rotation for me. i could be very wrong, but i'd like to think if you post on this site, you process and think about "hits" in a different way. don't let mainstream media dictate to you. also, it's very normal for artists to take time off after an albums release and tour. it's been less than a year since the last single. they'll be back. and i'll be glad to see them. long time fan of Cee-Lo, witty, insightful songwriter.

Word! Put on a smilin face! They have been still touring recently. I saw them 4 weeks ago downunder, headlining at a mid sized venue and it rocked. I met cee-lo too and he seems like a humble guy. I even bought him a jager-bomb at the after party ha! (for those wondering what that is, it's a glass filled part way with red bull with a shot of jagermeister dropped in and you skull it) _ Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

i met him before the show in montreux and he was super nice. the local press said it was one of the best shows in 15 years... crazy is a miracle but their album is awesome anyway. to call those guys one hit wonders is ridiculous... i hear they are working on their second album. they have demos and stuff. it will getr released if they thinnk it's good enough... i'm labeled as a bad character
no matter what i do i'm labeled as a bad character

They are working tracks for their next album.
Cee Lo said that some of the tracks are original tracks that they did not have time to get to finished and that the album will be similar. After that, Cee Lo has a solo album that needs to get done. I cannot wait for that one. Later Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

John Coltrane had one charted song off of My Favorite Things, but the whole album is a classic. Ditto with Brubeck's Time Out.
It's too early to deem St. Elsewhere a "classic" in the long haul, but maybe "Crazy" so dominated the airwaves it was going to be hard for the rest of the songs to find the same audience. So, though songs like "Smiley Faces" and "The Last Time" are, IMHO, just as good, it's almost impossible to tap into the psyches of audiences across the board with a single song. It did fine on the album charts. And it'll take a while for them to put together another creation like that. Even acts like Prince, OutKast, Lauryn Hill, etc. are under pressure to put lightning in a bottle a second time after such a massive hit. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

That whole project was one of the few great parts about that year "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
