"Classic Albums" that u don't get

Pet Sounds - I like some beach boys stuff but this is so entirely...what's the word...milktoasted. Disney doo wop

Any "classic" Dylan album

Exile on Main St by The Stones - enjoyable, but a classic? Nah. Too long and lacks killer melodies

hmph!

London Calling - love the title track and Train in Vain, the rest yawn

The Stone Roses - I was excited recently to discover that incredible song 'Waterfall' and I couldn't wait to hear the rest.
Now that I have....I just don't get the hype. I hope I do someday.

Give "I Am The Resurrection" another spin Abigail, preferably at full volume.

I think The Rolling Stones, Exile In Main Street album is overrated. It just seems to ramble on and on.

I don't get this one either, and I like a lot of other fusion / electric jazz from the 70s, including Jaco Pastorius' self titled album.

You know, I like it, but it kinda lags in spots. I thought Hard Day's Night was better.

Off the Wall, sure it's got some really great material but only half of it is any good.

Shoot Out the Lights--Richard & Linda Thompson. I've always heard this is one of the best albums of all time. It's aight....

Grace--Jeff Buckley. again it's all right, but a little squishy for me.

Completely, totally with you on Pet Sounds. And also its modern equivalent The Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin.

I tried it, just wasn't feeling it. Maybe you need a British perspective to understand these things. I'm from Wisconsin! lol

Fools Gold - I kinda like that one. The guitar reminds me of somebody, like the Soup Dragons or Stereo MCs

London Calling is one of my all time favorites, but I never got the Stone Roses either. They just seemed dull.

London Calling to me is like one big long boring english reggae record. That's what I remember of it anyway. I want to love it...just hasn't happened yet

nod I really wish people would get off his jock. It's OK, but nothing anywhere close to mind-blowing.

You don't get 'Blonde on Blonde' or 'Bringing It All Back Home'?

I suppose if they don't interest you then they don't interest you but those 2 in particular absolutely make me shake my head in awe when you consider how far forward he took songwriting. I can't think of a mediocre song on either.

Pet Sounds is an odd album but there is definitely a melancholic edge to that record.

Novabreaker! Someone has gotten a hold of your org-password, I know you couldn't have written that yourself! "I'm never gonna tell it" could be a hit today, even 20 years from now. The title track, a trip and a half.

Well, my confession is Marvin's 'what's going on'. It's growing, but when I first heard it, it lacked groove. I wanted a hard-hitting funk-groove, and WGO didn't deliver. Nowadays, James Jamersons basslines are growing on me, but it's been a long road... boxed
