Michael has more talent in his little finger than Madonna has in her whole body, Madonna was never about raw talent BUT, there are two things that make Madonna better than MJ, her Focus and Image. Even when Madonna is doing every thing to grab the headlines ie Baring her boobs at a fashion show, lesbian kisses with Britney and the "Sex" book, she still makes her music on a consistent basis, she is still very productive and focus on her music-even if it is rubbish. Also as attention grabbing as many of her antics have been they are never that bad that it means she ends up in court being accuse of heinous crimes like child abuse twice over, no one shakes that kind of stigma off.
The problem with Michael is that for the first 15 years of his career his focus was truely on his art. Between 1978 and 1982 he was truely on fire, 4 classics albums in 4 yrs proves how focus he once was. But I just believe after the Victory tour and without his brothers his productivity rate and focus reach an all time low. The fact is over the last 20 years his career has had little to do with his art (all you need to do is look at his limited output) and more to do with him being some walking/talking Peter Pan cartoon who is stuck in being as bizarre or weird as possible. When he spend 20 years of his life being anything but the artist he was born to be, it's no wonder peeps end up respecting people that haven't got half of his talent above him.

Prince puts out an album every couple of years atleast. So Prince makes MJ's output look very small. It's not MJ's focus that is not on his art. It's the media's focus. MJ is constantly working. He's either writing, recording, producing, filming or touring. It's just been this decade really that he slowed down. I think since the birth of his first son he has been gradually slowing down in terms of work. He continued working and touring, but once he had 3 children he pretty much had to slow down. MJ puts family first. Unlike Madonna who would drown her children in a river if she thought it would be a good career move.

Michael Jackson, hands down.
Madonna albums are consistently great, but Michael Jackson albums are always timeless and perfect. Madonna's album sales pale in comparisson to Jacksons. Michael has always sold more albums than Madonna, and this November will be no exception. I think that many will be surprised with the success of Jackson's comeback. The ridiculous case brought against him allowed the U.S. public to realize the true nature of the repeated false accusations against Michael. Now that he has been vindicated, the U.S. can love Michael once again. I also expect to see better publicity for Michael in the news. He'll still be percieved as "weird", but that "weird" will once again be lovable as it was in the 1980s.

Oh please, even before the birth of his son, he hadn't done that much compared to the first 15 years of his career. After the Victory tour and album in a space of 12 years he had done about 3 albums or (2 and half, since History was part greatest hits) you compare that between 1969 and 1982, altogether about 20 albums including Off The Wall and Thriller, numerous upon numerous tours, and even though he may not have play to as many people like post-Thriller, but he did more tours overall(and he didn't lip sync either). He was at his most innovative and productive from 1969 to 1984. It is these years that made him relevant as an artist. If all his career were to depend solely on the work he did post Thriller, he would have been forgotten a long time ago. The only reason why Michael is still relevant and considered a legend today is because the bulk of his classic stuff had already be done by the time he decided he wanted to be seen as the weirdest person in the world.

There's alot Michael can do. One thing is open up the vaults and expand his catalog:
-a boxset of rarities from 1973-1991 -a remix album of Motown and Epic tracks -BAD Tour DVD -Victory Tour DVD -Making of Thriller DVD -A video collection that has ALL of his videos(including unreleased videos like Wanna Be Startin Somethin, The Girl Is Mine, This Place Hotel, Dangerous, Just Good Friemds, Smile, and the 25 minute of The Way You Make Me Feel) so the all those other damn collections can be obsolete -REMASTERED EDITIONS of the Jacksons' 1976-1984 albums [Edited 4/24/07 20:22pm] "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. A Michael Jackson fan from MJJF met will.i.am just recently. This fan is a hip-hop recording artist and was working in the same studio as Will. His name is Kaliq.
When this Kaliq guy saw Will he asked me what he was working on that day, hoping that he was working on the MJ album and that Mike would also be in the studio somewhere. Will told him "I gotta alot of things goin', I'm just testing some things out." Kaliq, unsatisfied with the absence of "Michael Jackson" in Will's response, asked him, "so how's that Michael Jackson album coming along?" Will said, "it's good, real good. Some real music, the best thing that has been out in a long time." Kaliq then asked him "when do you think it'll be out?" Will kinda chuckled a bit and said, "you gotta ask Mike that... (pauses) all I can tell you is that it's comin' along." So there you go. It's "coming along".

Bullshit.Unlike MJ,Madonna has been successful at finding a balance between family and her career. She has proven to be a very good, devoted mother. She only tours in the summertime, when her children are out of school. She's making it all work out.In this decade alone, she's done three world tours and released three albums. In this decade,MJ has released one album and no tours. It seems that he's having trouble finding that perfect balance.I kinda feel sorry for his diehard fans, having to wait over 5 years for an album.

Thank you for your consideration. But I´d rather wait for a while for a perfect album than having to listen each year or two to some new crap (not neccesarly refering to Madonna.) I would take the 1 album Michael has released this decade over the 3 Madonna as made. I don't see why quantity is so important to Madonna fans. I guess it's because they are always waiting for her to make a good album but it never happens so they want her to keep pumping out albums until she finally releases something good. Michael puts every bit of his effort into making his albums 100% perfect. He's never failed to impress. All of his albums are quality. Quality over quantity. Michael Jackson over Madonna.

That's your opinion.I think that the last three Madonna albums are great.'Confessions On A Dancefloor' is my third favorite Madonna album. What I really enjoy about her music is.....she actually evolves with each album.I'm pretty certain that her upcoming album won't sound anything like the last three. With Michael,I don't hear alot of artistic growth with each album. His post-Thriller albums are glossy and over-produced,with a lack of truly outstanding uptempo songs.I can't even recall the last time I heard a fantastic dance song by him.The only good thing about 'Invincible' are the ballads. Many people have said this. That's why I said earlier that he should call Jamiroquai. They're making better dance/disco/funk jams than he is right now.

I agree, MJ has been really hard working in the pass, but most of those 30 albums came within the first 15 years of his career, he and he brothers must have been the hardest working kids in the business. But you must admit in the last 20 years he has become just as famous for plastic surgery, child abuse allegations and other things that have very little to do with his music. The fact that he only releases albums twice a decade doesn't help either. And although I do agree Madonna's treatment by the media is much fairer, she has managed to stay focus on her music, as well as bringing up her children. I myself have always been wary of her shock tactics, but overall her life is so much more balance and straight forward than MJ, at least people don't question whether Lourdes is really her biological daughter. You guys still going at it? I've been very happy with the Madonna albums of the last decade. I do think she evolves and I like that every album is different. I'm not going to hate because she consistently puts out albums every few years. Same with Prince. Some will be gems and some will be less than but its great to have variety over the years. Honestly, I thought MJ would have experimented more and would have had very different material in his catalog by now but several years ago I realized he's not that kind of artist or maybe I had different expectations based off of interviews and his trailblazing videos. If he wants to take 5-6 years, that's cool, he's not the only one to do it but I think it just puts more emphasis on the fact that he's been gone and he's 'coming back' or puts his projects under scrutiny because if it's not a gem we have to wait 6 more years. Personally, I don't want another slick produced album. I desperately want something 'other' but not sure if Will.I.Am can deliver the goods and I'm not even counting on RJ or Teddy. The tracks may be good but they most likely won't be groundbreaking. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
