November 2007: Michael Jackson and Madonna will release new albums---who will come out on top?

Two of the biggest superstars of the 80s are set to release new albums in November. Both artists are working with some mainstream heavyweights (Madonna has recruited Timbaland and Pharrell for her album, while MJ is working with will.i.am and Rodney Jerkins on his album).Which artist is likely to come out on top? Which album are you most excited about? Will they really release their albums in the same month??

For the latest word on MJ's album,go here...

For the latest word on Madonna's album,go here...

Michael and Madonna in the same month!! That's the be all and end all.

I have no idea who will sell more. Both have the potential to sell around 10 million. It will be interesting to see how both albums go on the charts and how well they sell.

Neither of them have sold 10 million domestically since the 1990's. How do you figure that?

We all know that Madonna will chart higher than MJ (unless his album contains appearances from Fergie and the other Blackeyed Peas). I'm sure that MJ could pull out some of the Jermaine Dupri tracks he paid millions for in 99 and 00 while recording Invincible to add to the Will.I.am trax. That might make for one killer album.

Madonna sold 8 million with Confessions (2005). Michael also sold 8 million with Invincible (2001). I think Madonna will sell about the same as her last album, but the fact that Timbaland is working with her will create that extra buzz to get it to 10 million. With MJ, I think the huge amount of publicity (good and bad) he has got this decade so far has pretty much guaranteed him a 10 million seller.

Michael has more on the line.... his new CD will have to help repair his reputation in the music industry and elsewhere. there's more at stake for him. I hope his album sells well. From what I've been reading, he's been recording with very talented people.

I have total faith in Michael Jackson. Madonna knows the market really well. But Michael knows music really well. Michael's always made great music. He's had a few stinkers, but even his worst (well, generally considered his worst by critics and gans) album Invincible had great songs on it. I think the trail was the best (and worst) thing that ever happened to Michael. While it was a terrible experience for him, it also sort of refreshed his mind and his soul. I think he's a change man now and his music will reflect that. I think everyone who isn't expecting much from Michael's new album will be very surprised.

I really hope MJ finishes on time...it will make for an eventful 4th quarter...it's just not the same when an icon does not release an album around that time...

Madonna will have an album out no doubt...she's a business women and will meet deadline as long as WB promotes the hell out of it...MJ is a super perfectionist and tends to skip deadlines, spend tons of cash to make an album complete...but it's been so long that I'm sure he's ready to comeback!

Michael Jackson has always outsold Madonna, so if we are talkin sales then MJ will win, especially since this is a comeback record and the p.r. will all be about a new MJ with new music etc etc a la Mariah Carey. He will get the sympathy vote in Europe, and especially in the UK where he is still massive!

Remember Number Ones from 2004, that record sold 2million in the UK alone and is still in the charts. Also Invincible got to number one here 2 and that was pre martin bashir, michael has gained a lot of new fans in the UK since then.

In America he will have to work his butt off 2 convince the public he has changed as a person and at least say that he wont make the mistakes again he did in the past. Focus on the music, focus on the art and improve his style.

Madonna isnt really as popular in America as MJ even at his lowest point although she does have GAY DOLLAR POWER and that counts for a lot these days.

You're wrong.

I wish I was as sure as you are.

I don´t know who is going to sell more, normally I would say Mike I don´t know how the allegations might effect that. I hope not. But I think ppl will be more interested in seeing what MJ´s gonna come up with. I mean Madonna hasn´t give the public a break from her, so it´s not like ppl miss her that much. It´s like yesterday when Hung up was released and it´s like centuries since we´ve heard anything new from MJ.

I just hope it´s a bomb and I sure can´t wait for the MJ album. I can´t wait till it will be all about the music again. As for Madonna, I don´t care that much.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

There is more chance of Tom Cruise coming out of the closet than MJ releasing an album this year.

Who the hell started this rumour?

That raymone bain is a complete retard and idiot, who should be slapped with a wet fish.

as for domestic sales in usa,

neither is going to do particularly well in the current climate of shit music.

invincible sold approx 2 million in the usa, while madonna's last did roughly the same i think.

I doubt any of them can go above 4. thats the max to be honest, and thats only due to added hype and expectations

the new MJ album is bound to be crap especially when he is working with rodney jerkins, will i am and other useless beat makers.

if its anything remotely like invincible, id rather listen to a blank cassette tape.

i find it impossible to understand why he would work with rodney jerkins again, he knows fine well that shit didnt work first time round.

i dont really believe that rumour.

i dont even believe the will i am rumour.

mj works with a lot of people in the studio but the final cut ends up completely different.

hell he worked with lauryn hill for invincible and there aint one second of her on that cd. 2 b honest i dont think michael is even interested in making an album... he's just not in the zone anymore.. he doesnt even want to perform. That is the tragedy, never mind private life matters, the worst thing is the fact that he is wasting his god given talent arsing about doing jack shit. But in the end that is his choice and we cant demand music from him.

I happen to agree with you, which is why I questioned DD's prediction.

selling 2 million these days is almost like selling 5-6 million, considering the degree of difficulty in moving albums these days.
