Slide packs are used for cheaper editions (without booklet and for 6-8 Euros)

well that's a pretty cool initiative. i'd buy many more real cd's
if they were only 6 euro's and if it's not by someone like bjork,
prince or whatever, i don't really mind if there's no booklet nod
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Here I think they are sort of bringing back the longbox in the way that it's all made out of paper...Universal is issuing some of it's material through packages made out of all recycled material, so the case holding the CD is some sort of paper product, I think. I have seen them in stores.

I noticed a 20 Century remaster greatest hits of The Ohio Players in the cardboard sleeve. I think they are just being cheap. Give me my damn jewel cases. That damn cardboard doesn't fit in my CD case slots. As many CDs as I have, I need something that fits in the slots so I can find my stuff quickly and easily. Also, if I see an empty slot, I know someone has stolen something.
