So you thought Chris actually sounded good? All the live stuff I've heard of him makes me think he is a studio fraud in regards to his singing... Maybe they were all just off days but I don't think so he sounded pretty shit.

Edit I didn't realize there was actually a link lol Yeah he wasn't bad I guess it's only the full on screaming he can't do in concert.

i never saw him live actually but his voice was amazing and sounded just like the first Soundgarden record.....the people on Fremont St. couldn't believe that kind of talent was playing a free show there

he has the best rock voice ever in my opinion

I really like his cover of "Billie Jean". He put a totally different spin on it and without the baseline to distract you, you realize how strong of a song Billie Jean is in terms of lyrics & it made me realize what a dark song it really is. Chris Cornell has one of best voices i've ever heard. I think he's underrated as a vocalist.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

Well he's definitely not underated, every review always says he's the best voice in rock at the moment. He gets his due don't worry...

I've always loved this dude's voice. Just listened to it - it's SO weird to hear that song interpreted a different way, pretty awesome. I'm diggin it exclaim

Another rock dude who sounds pretty impressive live (from what I've heard) is Dave Grohl nod But I like Cornell's voice better smile

That would be a proper song in that case, this thing just reeks of artificiality and clumsiness. Altough I'm sure there will be a whole bunch of motherfuckers on internet forums posting shit like, "MJ sucks and is a peaeadophil, but CHRIS CORNEL'S VERSION ROCKS! So much better than the original", or, "I never liked the Michael Jackson version but the CHRIS CORNEL VERSION ROCKS! So much better".

It reads like you don't like it simply because of that fact. What would you say is a better cover version, one that's the same song but with a different performer or a unique interpretation that makes a new song? This version will not replace the original, that's obvious... Besides the type of people you're talking would never of given MJ a chance anyway so it's no loss. Appreciate it for what it is. I will agree though that it does sound a little forced.

I don't like it because it doesn't work as a song.
