you know what ruins this song for me? The fact that it's a duet. This is a song that should only be from the woman's point of view. Why is Bow-Legged Lou on this song, claiming that he too is "all cried out"? HE'S THE ONE THAT BROKE HER HEART,it's not the other way around!

disbelief oh SoulAlive..what would this song be w/out Bow-Legged Lou's heartfelt" Im so sohhhrrry" right before the climax of the song?

That's one of the very few slow songs from the late 1980s that I actually like.

didn't care for either version
Lisa Lisa's or Allure's (ft. 112)

Allure's version features Mariah on the background vocals (in a way to support the group she put together)

But that either didn't convince me at the time lol

I actually liked Allure's version over Lisa Lisa because it seems a bit less whiny to me...

It don't matter who broke off the relationship, there's still a period of mourning (on both sides)....you must be nonromantic...wink
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Really? I'm a fan of Slim, but even I admit that 112 may be the very definition of whiny. lol

How can anyone not like the "apology not accepted, add me to the broken hearts you've collected, AAHHHHH!" part? biggrin

Not only is that song whiny as fuck, but let's face it - LisaLisa did NOT have a very good voice. It was decent & should have only been used in spurts (i.e. I Wonder If I Take You Home). But to hear her hold a note is just kinda nasaly & painful. All in all, some sappy shit...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

No I don't really define them as whiny but the guy that sounds a bit like Babyface tends to annoy me from time to time...

eek Slim (the lead singer) is more whiny than Face could ever be. I like him enough in moderation (and throughout their first album), but his voice has a nasal, whiny timbre. It gets pretty bad at the end of their cover of this song. Lisa is more whiny than the Allure girls (which actually serves the song better IMO), but no way is Lou more whiny than Slim.

lol I think she's a great singer, but I agree, she definitely sounds better on the uptempo songs.I wasn't crazy about any of her ballads.Remember that sappy "Someone To Love Me For Me"??
