THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI TURNS 2

Mariah's 2005 monster hit album "The Emancipation of Mimi" turns two today. The set was released on April 12, 2005 and shot straight atop the Billboard Hot 200 with 404,000 copies sold in it's first week. The album was re-released on November 15, 2005 with additional tracks and bonus videos. To date, it has sold more than 5.6 million copies in the US and over 10 million copies worldwide.
It has been certified 6x Platinum in the US - the highest certified album in 2005 - and has also become the bestselling album of that year. "Emancipation" gave Mariah her biggest first week sales ever and is the third highest selling Mariah album in the US after "Music Box" (1993) and "Daydream" (1996), excluding Mariah Carey, the debut album.

I love this record now. I truly enjoy it. I've been listening 2 it quite a lot.

This is one of the few times I heavily anticipated a new album and was not disappointed.

The Emancipation of Mimi has to be one of the worst pop albums I've heard in a long time. The overall songwriting is a joke.

I just gave Your Girl a spin which is probably the shortest track she's done. If you don't pay attention, it's almost over before it begins.

For me it wasnt that good of a record. Mariah to me, though i Love her has never done a CD that i could listen to straight through and just say DAMN this is a solid record. MIMI was a more catchy record than ever but the production wasnt very good, it was stale and flat on many tracks. Mariah is approaching 40 now and is at a crossroad of what is she going to become, I have heard that the next record is going to be a very HEAVY HipHop record with alot of guests yet again, which is not impressing me. But right now to me Mariah is better to look at than to listen to, i just wish she could do that one KILLER album, she never has. But hey shes got great legs.

So, yeah, like I've said - and gotten hated by, I didn't quite feel The Emancipation of Mimi... I can't believe it's 2 years old and it just started 2 grow on me. It mostly took me like 2 years 2 embrace ALL of her work.
I still think Glitter, Daydream and Butterfly r her best records

About the heavy hip hop thing I hope it's not true

"Fly Like A Bird" is my fave track on TEOM. That's one of her strongest vocal performances ever and when she performed this song at the grammy's two years ago I thought she did an amazing job.
