I am laughing hysterically about people praising this chick as a real talent. She is a product otherwise she wouldn't have chopped her nose off her face and wouldn't be dressing like a slut lol She aint tryin to get by on her talent, she's trying to get by on her looks.

So her oufits on a red carpet are SLUTTY, so Halle Berry and Jennifer Hudson who wear the same stuff are SLUTS too? Its amazing what we think is slutty, this is why we have things like the Don Imus incident because we stereotype someone because of clothing. Amerie is a 30 year old woman, i think we should be more concerned what a teen is wearing like Ciara. And that she is trying to get by on her looks, thats so funny, so that goes for EVERY artist that is half way decent looking, they are doing it on their looks and have no talent, lets just make sure thats across the board that statement. So the Beyonces and Janets and Prince's of the world are getting by on looks too? Folks even one that is pretty is not getting by on their looks, WAKE UP already with this double standard already its total Bull at this point.

falloff OK, first off I am HORRIFIED at these teenage sluts like Ciara and Cassie and all the rest. NONE OF THEM are remotely talented and I am sickened at the state of music where you can't even buy albums from talented people without searching high and low because the shelves are stocked with nothing but crap acts that glitter nicely. You can paint a turd gold but you're still left with a piece of crap lol

If this album cover were any larger you'd see cunt hairs lol

Compared to the vibe she was putting off on her first album, this is certainly slutty:

And yes Janet Jackson and Beyonce are full of shit as well peddling their goddamned boobs instead of good music. Your double standard bit does not apply to me lol

Im talking double standard when a MALE artist does it, Example PRINCE?? Justin Timberlake,etc... Lets also not forget COUNTLESS Diana Ross album covers and Donna Summer covers also, once again count one count them all in.

Oh the men aren't any better. I hate them too lol And you can take Prince off that list because while he may have engaged in shock tactics regarding his appearance and dress, hands down he would run circles over the entire industry with his wicked talent. He has a get out of jail free card!

So why do you support mediocre female singers like Amerie, Maya, Cassie, JLo, etc that got deals because of their looks, but dis someone like Sanjaya who appears to be getting votes for his hair and looks?

When did i say Cassie was a singer? I said she was a pretty girl and defended her from a stupid Vibe article, MYa got a deal because of her looks? really i didnt know this, well she was signed as a dancer back in 1997 but dancing is not talent, and i have seen her live many times and she can sing and perform, Amerie the same thing. But hey if we are going to say that all females get signed for their looks dont draw lines, Diana Ross,Aaliyah, etc..And how come we dont point out any male artists, Justin, Usher,Ne-Yo being signed for their looks and having Mediocre talent. MY dissing of Sanjaya was saying that everyone praises AI for being a TALENT SHOW, ITS NOT, and him getting by shows it, its nothing to do with your talent, and lets be honest if he was a female pulling that shit with hair and looks his ass would be at home watching AI.

No one will get me to believe that Ne-Yo was signed for his looks. confused

Anywho, what I want to know is do you think it's ok for someone to get a record deal, male or female, based on their looks?

Well if one person is called a Slut than lets keep it real than everyone is, cant cherrypick who we like and who we dont.

Beyoncé has already proven her abilities. She's 10 years in the pop game and there's no comparing Amerie or Teedra Moses to her. Mya, on the other hand, can sing - is close to 10 years in the R&B game as well and has dancing skills. She screwed up by screwing. When you try to whore your way through the business, you get crapped on. That's what happened to her. The industry talks. It doesn't respect her. Screw the right people; its a career in the pop game. Screw the wrong people; its King magazine layouts. Mya's Moodring CD was much better than Beyoncé's solo projects but without the right backing, you can NOT be successful on a major label. The problem is, after you have played the pop game, its harder to be taken seriously as a real artist. You can't do lapdances for Carson Daly AND get respect like Jill Scott. It doesn't work that way.

Personally I don't give a shit what clothes someone wears or whether they actually hook for a living. When it comes to music I go off because how much of the music industry is based on looks and not talent. Most of it. That is the only reason I would ever have issue with someone's dress. She obviously felt the need to come out of her shell and why? did she all of a sudden have a change of heart? Probably not. She knew pulling a Michael Jackson and parading around naked would sell her more records.

First of all AMERIE has never sold more than 500,000 records in the USA, so dont know about that whole SELLING business. And second she did nothing like a Michael Jackson, dont know where that came from, but she lloks the same as day one. HOWEVER i will say that she is lighter in person, u forget she is 80% Korean. So if she looked darker on her first album thats a SOny deal, kind of like what they do with Beyonce. I just dont understand what this is Based on? Does everyone wear the same clothes they wore in 2001? Is Beyonce rocking the same weave still, lets get real, is Justin still doing I Promise You.

Well MYA got screwed pretty well too, lets not forget that after MOODRING came out she went through some family issues and those around her took advantage of that basically stole what she was making and left, but of course we dont hear things like that. Thats why MYA runs her own game now, she has her own studio, her own band and she is her own manager. Now if she would get the fuck off MOTOWN the worst label around, sorry but the day has changed Motown is the worst.

I’m curious what you guys think about Tamia? I just read an interview with Tamia (in which she comments heavily on the state of the music industry)—someone who most would consider has the looks and the voice and definitely sells her wares. I thought she was going to have more success with her lastest album which she put out herself but it seems like she was here and gone within a month. Is it her promotion, her music or lack of interest in favor of PCD, Fergie and Ciara or none of the above?

OK, my issue isn't with how someone dresses or has a sexualized image, when they are talented. It's when they are not that this becomes an issue because they are using those things to get by in an industry that they should be getting by on their talent. If Jill Scott all of a sudden dropped a lot of wait and started exposing her vag on every magazing cover, I'd be disappointed because she doesn't need to do that to succeed. These chicks however need to expose as much skin as possible because they are horrible trainwrecks musically.

Well this is another perfect example of someone who has LOOKS and talent there too, i think with Tamia as with others i have named (amerie Mya teedra etc) that its a label committment, everyone wants the next Beyonce, and no label wants to have to work someones record, they want istant success, i think Kelly Rowland would fall into this category too.

Some people say that Tamia has the looks and talent, but doesn't have the "it" factor.

These chicks however need to expose as much skin as possible because they are horrible trainwrecks musically.

ok..this made me laugh...for some reason...

I like Tamia. She can sing and looks amazing. I dig Amerie. She's got an OK voice and looks sexy everytime I see her. I'm surprised she hasn't gotten into acting yet.

She played Katie Holmes' sidekick/roommate in "First Daughter". The height difference between the two was distracting, though - made "TomKat's" female half look even more gangly and awkward.

Don't know if Amerie's done anything since.
