Nas is very relevant! Jay Z only raps about what he has that most of us don't. I'm tired of hearing about is Maybach. When is he going to rap about something meaningful. Jay Z, please retire already. Please take Beyonce with you! At least Nas raps about political stuff and current events.

I'm not a Hip-Hop expert but I have to say that Nas had some great songs...better than Jay-Z's.

I like alot the single he did with P Diddy that was called "Hate me now"

there's some truth to that statement...Jay was, and is more for the club. now his music is like what the southern rap trash is, commerical club music. There was a time when the only time you heard 3 six mafia was in the club and that's it. now they are on tv with their own show. i wouldn't be surprised if some clueless fans of theirs actually feel that they have "sold" out since they won that academy award.

Jigga was really cool back in 95 when I bought his debut album Reasonable Doubt...I liked his sincere lyrics, his flow and the samples and his style but most of all, I liked his no bullshit, serious attitude he displayed in most of his interviews, especially overseas, whereas most other rappers don´t seem to be able of putting together a coherent sentence without adding a mumbled " YouknowwhatImsayin ´?" after every other sentence...but Shawn Carter always comes across real sober, serious and with style, he seems to be very intelligent and articulate and it´s a crying shame to see how he´s wasting his talent with nonsense lyrics lately.

Is it true that he´s never written down his lyrics on paper to this day ?

And does he really bite a lot of his raps from Biggie and Nas ?

Above all Jay-Z is a marketing and business genius. I have to give kudos to him for that. He's a smart man and has that drive to be successful.

About his material, I only paid attention to a Jay-Z album because of the entire Black album/ Grey album era (Dangermouse)....It was the only Jay-Z album that I liked. I still see him as more of a singles artist.

I agree about the subject matter, and Nas is more musical and has interesting rhythmic technique.

To me, the only thing about Biggie & Jay is that they make it look very easy, like they could just rhyme all day.

Yeah, without any doubt. Lyrically superior. Just better all round, in my eyes.
Just for the record, I been into hip hop since the late 80's. They been knocking around for quite some time now, along with q-tip, times been flyin'!
Always thought Jay-z was well over-rated to be honest

I'm glad that there are others out there with the same view as Jay Z. I give him much respect as a business man though. I just think he has talent but he needs to put his focus in a new direction and start rapping about some shit that really matters. Jay give me some substance, that's all. Is that too much to ask for.

Jay has flow, he's lyrical and swaggalicious for days...Nas is sic with his flow and he's crazy lyrical also. They just have different things to say. Honestly, Jay was better back in the day when he still had the passion and something to prove...he's done now. Nothing to prove. I think him releasing an album last year was dumb, he shoulda did guest spots on artists song, instead he wanted to jump back in the scene, I dont think of him as that much of a living legend anymore.

Nas keeps it realer than real.
