Soul Compilation Box Sets Help Needed

Ever since getting the Beg Scream And Shout box, I have become a bit obsessed. I started browsing and found;

Atlantic Rhythm & Blues 1947-1974
The Complete Stax-Volt Soul Singles - Volume 1 1959-1968
The Complete Stax-Volt Soul Singles - Volume 2 1968-1971
The Complete Stax-Volt Soul Singles - Volume 3 - 1972-1975

All these compilations are amazing, giving a great tracj record of SOUL. You know, the Otis Reddingses etc.

Are there any more box sets I should focus on? Both Beg Scream And Shout and the Atlanticboxset are actually pretty amazing because they do not only feature hits, but also contain at least to me, unknown jewels.

I just got Stax/Volt and am already enjoying the first cd, so I suppose I will love all other 27 cd's, hehehe.

But I want MORE. Think in the line of Dave Godin's Deep Soul Treasures. EDUCATE me... common.

Oooh! I found What It Is! Funky Soul And Rare Grooves (1967-1977)

That sounds swell as well!

And last year I got Phil Spektor's Back To Mono, including that GREAT Xmas album.

And Hitsville USA, this Motown box set, is it a good comilation? I mean, I know there are DOZENS of Motown comps out there, but how does it rank among them?

If you're looking for a 70s soul box set, check out Rhino's 'Can You Dig It? The 70s Soul Experience' box set:

Contains 6 CDs of the most memorable soul hits from the 70s.The packaging is great....it's made to look like an 8-track tape case!

To me,this is the definitive Motown box set.Be sure to get both Volumes 1 and Volumes 2.The second volume focuses on 1972-1992.

LoL, I love Rhino, they made Beg Scream & Shout as a 45 singles box set. I love that label to bits, I do.

Thanks for the tips!

I love the unknown. We all know the hits. It is the same with music today; I gravitate to the no-hit artists.
