Did you order it from amazon.com directly or through the marketplace? Amazon.com It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

PFunkjazz said: HOY has a few decent songs, but even the most ardent fans fade away. The label was wise to cut the deadweight. I actually think that "High On You" is very under-rated; it's better than "Small Talk". Side One is superb, with Side Two being admittedly patchy. I presume there will be an expanded remaster of this at some point - "Heard Ya Missed Me" is another matter altogether... [Edited 4/28/07 5:12am]

I dig I Get High On You, but for some reason I can't recall whether or not I dug the rest of the album. Guess I gotta listen to it today then It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Just bought the reissue of "There's a Riot Goin' On" tonight... I've never really listened to any Sly Stone before. Gonna check it out.. Rolling STone reviewed the new box set, and had small reviews and ratings for each album individually, and they gave the highest score (5 stars) to this one.

I'm onto this one this week i have to be perfectly honest - i've been listening to each one chronologically since i got the box this week - and i've been giving them each a good listen, like two or three times in a row - and i can NOT decide which is my favorite so far. they're ALL amazingly good. the most challenging one for me so far is "there's a riot goin' on" because it's almost completely mid-tempo and i have to really be patient when i listen to it, cuz i'm a bigger fan of up-tempo funk than slower stuff...but my patience is rewarded, because the guitar and bass on that album is out of this world. plus it has "family affair", which is probably my favorite sly song ever. i didn't think i'd like the first album because i usually don't like early albums on first listens...but it's great! the horns in "underdog" totally stick in my head. this is one of the best music purchases i've made in quite some time.

Got mine today! Great package, great photos. I'm through with first listen of New Thing to Stand. I guess the first 2 are alright, but nothing I will go back too much propably. Then things really get going, though!

Thanks! Had to pay customs unfortunately and the wait at the custom office turned out to be nearly as long as the wait before. They were slooooow...actually, I think the guy who worked on my order fell asleep because I saw his eyes close and head sink down slowly.

I'm sure you will agree that it was worth the wait! What's your favorite album? I like 'Stand' the best

I guess Riot is very slightly ahead for me. But I really wouldn't want to choose between Stand, Riot and Fresh. Haven't listened to Small Talk yet, really curious about that one.
I also got The Noisettes' "What's the time, Mr Wolf?" today. I just love getting new music!

i really liked 'small talk' - i can't put my finger on why, but i think it's kind of a fascinating album. maybe because you can kind of hear things unraveling a little bit, but it's still a tight album?

I agree! Small Talk was better than I expected it to be. It's probably the most soulful and looser one out of the rest of the albums contained on the set, IMHO. I actually listen to Small Talk more than any other album in the set. Can't Strain My Brain is my favorite joint on the album. [Edited 5/4/07 8:17am] Check me out and add me on:
