AND....you should probably buy it at BEST BUY...I live in Miami and the local newspaper shows they will be selling it for $49.99 plus a Best Buy Exclusive Bonus DVD. I have no idea what is on the DVD but that's a really good price.

I definitely gotta get this! I seriously need to upgrade my whole Sly collection. I'm glad I can finally listen to the Small Talk album and check out the original artwork of the Riot album. I see that Best Buy priced the boxset for $49.99, so I'll be there Thursday night buying it.

But these will simply be all the reissued CDs in one box, so it doesn't really matter which CD is '1' and '2' and so on.

Does anyone know if there any liner notes or specific booklet contained within the box set?

No , but I will say from '67 to '75, Sly and the gang rocked every house in America. After the Fresh album, I think Sly declined a little but they still were funky. Their Warner Bros. stuff is horrendous, and I really think the later works like Back On The Right Track and Ain't But The One Way were solo albums.

Already got all those albums on CD... or well... I would have if my damn copy of Small Talk would arrive. I ordered the damn thing for like 6 months ago and I do remember receiving an email about it being posted. Haven't received it thought. Guess it got lost in the mail or some shit like that

Anyway, there was discussion about this before but, which was the original LP cover for Riot, the flag or the pic of Sly in front of the audience?

It's a cool pkg. The slipcase holds all 7 albums which are mini-LPs with all original cover work. Each LP is individually shrink-wrapped and has a booklet with liner notes, essay and pics, plus the bonus tracks noted above. Each mini- LP also has a serial number on the back.

The slip case is kinda useless, except it sets your SLY collection off from your other CDs, so it's a funk collector's "must-have". The BesT BUY DVD is a photo archive/ collage/practice video of "M'Lady" and "Everybody Is A Star". Nothing special, but good to have for collectors. It comes wrapped in the shrinkwrap surrounding the slipcase.

I had to "run game" at BB to get the low-price. Monday I went nosing around and asked a clerk when it would be out. He pulled it up online and the price said "$59.99", but the online sale price of "$39.99" was also listed. They were only getting two, so he told me I should bewhere when they opened tomorrow.

This morning I came in and grabbed it. The pkg was marked "$59.99", but the sale price was "$49.99". I hemmed and hawed about the "$39.99" price and the clerk (same guy from yesterday...a brutha) looked online but couldn't find it any more. I realized now that that was only for online purchase, but the guy said he'd have the cashier do an override on the price. So I got what I wanted at the price I wanted.

I got mine too...I think you may be right about each store have only 2!!!! I only saw two at the BestBuy I went to...Luckily most people in my city listen to crap so it wasn't that hard for me to get my copy!

Yeah, they got my 50 today too, I can't wait to go through it all this weekend. There were only 2 at my Best Buy and now there's only one.

I just realized something..."Everybody is a Star," "Hot Fun In The Summertime", and "Thank You for Letting Me Be myself again" are NOT on any of these albums....I already have them on the "Essential Sly Stone" cd but just letting everyone know cuz those are some of their biggest hits..."Everybody is a Star" in particular is my favorite Sly song ever.

I just ordered my copy from Amazon.com and hopefully I'll get it sooner. I couldn't believe the Best Buy store by my neighborhood didn't hold any more copies of the long awaited box set. They shockingly didn't even hold copies any more copies of the 2002 Essential collection (which I already have) when I went into the music section.
